@batgtony And I went on to work on Tomb Raider and then all the Harry Potter games for EA… and I met Jk Rowling and I worked with so many other brilliant people and I feel blessed for that… for my moment in the sun.
@batgtony I remember that when he showed me a room full of programmers, I thought, ‘this is the future’. And I was right. And I was hired and videogames became an industry and I was at the beginning of this huge global thing…
@batgtony When I went for my interview I thought Rare was a greetings card company. I showed Tim my portfolio of greetings cards and he laughed. He still hired me however…
@batgtony This was 1987 I think… when I started at Rare. You have to understand that video games on a console were totally new at that time. Nintendo was unheard of. The Stampers truly were visionaries insofar as videogames were concerned
@batgtony I wrote loadsa backstory stuff about the ‘toads… all that shit about the Gamescape and Silas being their nemesis and other stuff that was in Nintendo Power as a comic strip…
@batgtony Anyway, Dan said my script would be too expensive to make so that was that. Then DIC (a shit animation company) got hold of the property and fucked it up with an animated pilot that no one at Rare had anything to do with…
@batgtony I did some character designs but Tim didn’t think they were in the ‘house style’, so Kev (Bayliss) ended up drawing them. I wrote a backstory for the toads and Tim liked that. I wrote a film script and we sent it to the guy that wrote Alien - Dan O’Banion maybe?
@batgtony It was sooo long ago my friend, I can barely remember anything of that time. However… what I do remember is that Tim Stamper wanted to rip off TMNT cuz he thought it was ‘cool’… so… Battletoads was born!
@DeckyGoodfellow @djsteveyg @mickyp1971@GaryLineker I’m sure the people of Ireland are reading your tweets to the world and thinking get over yourself. Things are occurring that are bigger than your narrow narcissistic worldview
