@EWTNews A beautiful gesture of respect and friendship between Spain and the Holy See. 🇪🇸🇻🇦
Even an unexpected delay became an opportunity to witness humility, courtesy, and goodwill. May God bless Pope Leo, King Felipe, and the people of Spain with peace, unity, and faith. 🙏✝️
A double farewell: Pope Leo returns to Rome aboard King Felipe of Spain’s Falcon aircraft after his flight was delayed due to a technical issue. The king decided to change protocol and personally see off the Pontiff in his mother's place, as originally planned. In this unprecedented situation, the Pope received a double farewell.

When I was in Spain ahead of the apostolic visit, Catholics hoped Pope Leo would send a message of unity and common good, urge the dignity of every human being, and give Catholics a voice.
In all 3 themes, I think those final goodbyes are done in a different Spain than one the pope arrived to. King Felipe's smile as he waves goodbye says it all.
"Religiosity which has shaped and defined this country for centuries is not a museum of the past to be visited, but a school of faith from which to draw even today: A school that teaches us to kneel before God and before our neighbor, because no one can kneel before the Lord and despise their brother; A school that teaches us of the gratitude of love that becomes a gift, so that it may flow among us and break the chains of all selfishness; A school from which we learn that God is a real presence and that we too are called to be present in the realities and challenges of society, not shying away, but personally committing ourselves to the building of the common good."
