A herd of elk is nothing unusual in Maggie Valley, N.C., these days. But 25 years ago, the animals were just getting their footing in Cataloochee after being reintroduced. (Credit: Sarah Allison)

Putting on the Full Armor of God – How He Actually Protects You
In the heat of everyday battles — when doubt creeps in, temptation hits hard, or the enemy throws his fiery arrows — God doesn’t leave us defenseless. Ephesians 6 reminds us that our fight isn’t against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. That’s why He gives us His own armor to stand strong.
Buckle the Belt of Truth around your waist — it holds everything together and keeps you grounded in God’s Word, not the world’s lies.
Slip on the Breastplate of Righteousness — Christ’s perfect righteousness guards your heart from guilt and accusation.
Fit your feet with the Gospel of Peace — so no matter where you walk, you carry His peace and readiness to share it.
Take up the Shield of Faith — it extinguishes every flaming dart the enemy launches.
Wear the Helmet of Salvation — protecting your mind with the assurance that you belong to Jesus.
And wield the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God — your powerful offensive weapon.
Don’t go into today’s battles unarmed. Put on the full armor of God every morning through prayer, Scripture, and faith. He equips you to stand firm — and to win.

When John the Baptist called Jesus “the Lamb of God,” every Jew listening would have understood the significance.
For centuries, lambs were sacrificed for sin. During Passover, a lamb’s blood protected God’s people from judgment.
Those sacrifices pointed to something greater.
Jesus came as the perfect Lamb. Unlike the animals that had to be offered again and again, His sacrifice was once and for all.
That’s why the cross matters.
Jesus wasn’t just a victim of crucifixion. He was the Lamb of God who willingly gave His life so that sinners could be redeemed.
Suicidal atheist gives his testimony:
“In high school I mocked Christians and consistently lived in sin … after God saved me I realized the people I'd mocked had found what I’d been missing.“
For the football fans, let me explain it this way.
When the offense breaks the huddle, every player knows the play because they stayed close enough to hear the quarterback’s voice. But if one player isn’t in the huddle, he misses the direction completely.
That’s what happens when we drift out of fellowship with God.
Sin doesn’t just affect behavior, it disrupts intimacy. It dulls our sensitivity to His voice and pulls us away from the closeness that keeps us spiritually alert and prepared.
So much of being ready for Christ’s return comes back to this: abiding. Staying near. Remaining in fellowship with Him daily.
Not obsessing over dates and timelines, but living in ongoing relationship with the One who is coming. Don’t get out of the huddle.
