Delighted to be accepted onto the UEFA B Course. I’m excited to see where this next chapter entails. A big thanks to the inspirations, the mentors, the coaches I have worked with & currently work with & to my current club @ChesterFC@CFCWomens helping me with my own development.
Winning mentality. Thomas Tuchel has it in spades. While he praised the grit and character of the England team for grinding out a quarter final win against Norway, he wasn’t happy with the performance. Proud of his players but wants more. Elite manager.
Thomas Tuchel is one HELL of a coach and spokesperson.
Not seen a coach do this in years, where despite the result, they openly berate the squad to increase standards… And I love it.
Simply another level, and we’re going to unlock it hopefully.
No matter the speed of the ball, something is working quicker in this clip…
Know what it is?
Yes, that’s right. It’s the brain of these players. Working in milliseconds, firing in thousands of patterns per second…the brain trumps football for speed by some distance.
And, in many respects, that brain is designed to judge - to scan for threats and rewards that send thoughts and feelings into conscious awareness that so often distract. “How am I playing? How good is this opposition? How am I feeling? How much energy will this take? What’s gone wrong? What are my dangers?”
And so, ambitious players have to take control. They have to take control and take charge. They have to take control, take charge, dominate and own their mind and body.
Attention
Intensity
Intent
The actions in this clip are mostly intuitive - bodies primed with well practiced movement solutions that respond optimally to the demands the environment and the task present them. But attention must be kept high - focused and connected to ball, teammates, and space at all times. And intensity - mental intensity - must stay sharp…alertness and readiness responsive to the ever changing demands…anticipating action after action after action.
And then intent. A high intent - energy-forward. Rejecting feelings of hesitancy and inhibition…a body executing actions freely and with fluidity…a body filled with purpose, positivity, and proactiveness.
Attention
Intensity
Intent
The brain works quicker than the ball. And so the mental skills of attention, intensity, and intent should be high on the wish list of ambitious players…

@TheS_Resource Badly dressed , walking up and down the pitch shouting , no clue about football, arguing with everyone ( inc own team - double 🚩) , no respect for opposing coach / officials , no handshake before and after game , commentating on the game ( loudly ) , the list goes on 😂
This is brilliant 😂🙌🏼 And this is why we
love football and coaching , it’s not just about what happens on the pitch , it’s magic moments like this 🫶🏻Proper made me smile this 😂
High Attention
Optimal Intensity
High Intent
Do not compromise…
If you want ruthless, brutal, relentless competitors, you need to help them execute in a High Performance Mindset…with High Attention, Optimal Intensity, High Intent…
You want them focused and connected to the game at all times (High Attention). Alert and ready (Optimal Intensity). Executing with energy-forward - purposeful, positive, proactive (High Intent)
Do not compromise…
My new book, Compete, teaches you players how to execute in High Performance Mindset.

The head coach looks up and around…
She sees a squad…a team of players…ready to compete in their High Performance Mindset (HPM). After all, they’ve being practicing HPM since day one of pre-season…and now they’ve reached that crucial final game she knows they’re ready to execute in HPM as individuals and as teammates under pressure.
She doesn’t know if they’ll win. But she knows they’ll be tough to beat. Very tough to beat. She doesn’t know if they’ll have a 9/10 performance as a team…but she does know they’ll have their best possible performance under pressure…
…she knows that!
As she looks up and around and sees her players, she recalls the work they’ve done to solidify their HPM competitive framework. They’ve made sure parts of HPM have been practiced in every activity in every session. Some activities honing in on attention. Some driving home emotional control to improve mental intensity. And all activities…yes, all activities…dedicated to the execution of high intent.
Attention
Intensity
Intent
As she looks up and around she recalls the meetings she’s dedicated to video footage of HPM and its opposite - Low Performance Mindset (LPM). She thinks about the hard conversations she’s had with colleagues, sense-making the actions and behaviours unfolding on the pitch. What’s attention and what’s distraction? What’s optimal intensity and what’s too high or too low? What’s a high intent and where is passiveness or hesitation coming from?
Yes, mental frameworks for sense-making competitive mindsets and for understanding the execution of technical, tactical, physical actions.
Of course, she’s still passionate about building the best game models for her team, and the best tactical plan for her team to outwit their opponents. She still liaises with best-in-class sport scientists, nutritionists and S & C to ensure optimal fitness. But she knows that all actions…all technical, tactical, and physical actions must be executed in HPM…and so she puts HPM first in her programme.
She is relentless with HPM messaging. And she ensures her leaders are relentless with HPM messaging. “Nothing and no one takes us away from our HPM” she urges. “Nothing and no one” she declares.
HPM…
…it’s an every day thing. An all-in thing. An every activity thing. An every meeting thing. An every game thing. It’s coach-led, player-driven, and system-supported.
The head coach looks up and around and see what she needs to see…

One week on and can only admire what a wonderful event this was for the @SundayShare10 team to celebrate its 5th Anniversary! Incredible facilities and also privileged to listen to @DanAbrahams77 and also getting to listen to and speak with other like minded coaches here. 🙌🏻
The passion behind every word will make this stick for years 👏
I came across this incredible inspirational talk that football coach Joshua Paul gave his U11 players, and HAD to share it!!
At every stage of life, it’s easy to let ourselves be pulled down by negativity. We tend to internalise other people’s issues, rather than taking a step back and asking, “is this really my problem?” 🤔
Positivity is always an answer even when the question is the opposite.
Helping young people build that mindset early can shape how they handle life long after the pitch.
What a powerful lesson 🧡💫
