On the 8th September 1944 the first German V-2 rocket hit London. The use of these weapons would have happened earlier and caused more distractions if not for the brave people from the Polish underground. You can read more about it in my article here: https://t.co/PqO7n1UJXH
On the 80 Anniversary of the first V-2 rocket landing on London, Paul McCue and Magdalena Thomas present a talk on the Polish involvement in countering V-weapons

Today, we honour the heroes of D-Day. Polish forces played a crucial role in the success of Operation Overlord, with Polish airmen, naval vessels, and the 1st Armoured Division making significant contributions. Their bravery helped turn the tide in Europe. https://t.co/wS5ni9OTA5
On #Dday we can commemorate the involvement of the Polish underground movement in fighting V-weapons. If the employment of V-1 and V-2 had not been delayed then, according to Dwight Eisenhower, "our invasion [of Normandy] would have proved extremely difficult, if not impossible"
An absolute privilege to attend @ADCAshfield D-Day 80 Service of Commemoration.Guest of honour Wladyslaw Nazar (Walter) fought the Nazis after being taken from Poland age 12 for slave labour. Jan (John) Fejfer took part in the D-day landings. We will not forget you #dday
