Un 5 de septiembre de 1977, la milicia antifascista alemana de Fracción del Ejército Rojo (RAF) capturaban a Martin Schleyer, líder de la patronal, ex-oficial de las SS y ex-miembro del partido nazi, en la ciudad alemana de Colonia.

La RAF organizó una espectacular operación de infiltración para conseguir detener el coche de Schleyer, con una miliciana de la RAF que paseaba a su "bebé" (era una ametralladora) cruzando la acera, consiguieron parar el coche, ejecutar a todos sus guardaespaldas y capturar al nazi de Schleyer.

Schleyer desde la subida al poder de Hitler, fue un férreo seguidor de los nazis, fue escalando en el partido NSDAP, terminando alistándose en las temidas SS y llegando al rango de oficial.

Tras la derrota de la Alemania nazi, Schleyer fue hecho prisionero de guerra pero EEUU/UK lo liberaron en 1948 y lo protegieron como uno de los empresarios alemanes más influyentes de la República Federal Alemana, siendo presidente de la Confederación de Asociaciones Empresariales Alemanas y de la Federación de Industrias Alemanas y uno de los mayores enemigos de la clase trabajadora.

La Fracción del Ejército Rojo ofreció canjear al líder de la patronal, Martin Schleyer, a cambio de la liberación de los lideres encarcelados de Andreas Baader, Gudrun Ensslin, Jan-Carl Raspe e Irmgard Möller... el estado fascista alemán occidental se negó, por lo tanto Schleyer fue ejecutado por la RAF.
