A child was slain and three teens wounded by gunfire outside of Juarez HS today. This follows Michele Clark, Schurz, Hyde Park, Kenwood – where my own son attends – as schools near shootings this year, and we are just weeks into December. This is personal. These are our children.

@TaimMazrim @geraldzavala @CTUSpecialEd Also, I have strong memories losing a teacher in 3rd grade. She came down with an illness, and could not return to work. The class kinda lost it, as we didn't have a consistent teacher after that.

@TaimMazrim @geraldzavala @CTUSpecialEd it's not just "oh, my teacher isn't my teacher anymore". It's "I am spending my days in a loud gym with all of the other classes that have no teachers, and I am learning nothing."

Told my scholars I might get locked out from virtual school tomorrow by CPS because I refuse to go into the building. 5 minutes later, I called on one of them and she didn’t respond.

Me: “Hey, what you up to?”
4th grader: “I’m emailing the mayor.”
