आज ही के दिन, 2 जुलाई 1972 को हुआ शिमला समझौता आज भी भारतीय इतिहास के सबसे बहस वाले अध्यायों में गिना जाता है। युद्धभूमि की विजय वार्ता को निर्णायक रूप से आगे बढ़ाने में तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी का नेतृत्व कैसे विफल रहा यह समझौता इसका स्पष्ट उदाहरण है ।

इतिहास बदलता नहीं, लेकिन इतिहास से सीखा अवश्य जा सकता है।

Congress has once again proved that it understands neither debt, nor development, nor economics.

The US$765.5 billion figure being thrown around is not Government debt.

India’s Government external debt is only US$168.7 billion.

The remaining US$596.8 billion is non-Government debt.

Even within the US$168.7 billion Government external debt, US$104.1 billion (68%) is external assistance. This supports public development projects in the States, covering infrastructure, urban services, water supply, roads, livelihoods, and other public assets. Many of these projects also benefit Opposition-ruled States.

So, what exactly is Congress objecting to?

Is Congress against developmental projects in the States?

Is Congress against infrastructure financed through external assistance?

And if Congress is objecting to private sector external borrowing, then it should say so clearly.

Why does Congress have a problem when Indian companies borrow abroad to invest in India, expand capacity, build businesses, and create jobs?

For Congress, even India’s growth becomes unacceptable if it happens under Prime Minister Modi.

Now, let’s look at the serious indicators, not Congress-style headline hunting.

1) In 2014, India’s external debt was 23.9% of GDP. In December 2025, it is 20.4%.
2) In 2014, forex reserves covered 68.2% of external debt. In December 2025, they cover 89.8%.
3) In 2014, short-term debt was 30.1% of forex reserves. In December 2025, it is 21.9%.
4) In 2014, the debt service ratio was 5.9%. In December 2025, it is 5.8%.

This is why Congress avoids the details and hides behind absolute numbers.

Either it does not understand the difference between total debt, Government debt, debt burden, reserve cover, and repayment capacity, or it understands it very well and is deliberately misleading people.

Absolute numbers create panic.

Ratios reveal strength.

And the ratios show clearly that India’s external position today is stronger than it was during the UPA era.

Despite COVID-19, wars, global interest rate hikes, commodity shocks, trade disruptions, and financial volatility, India’s external debt indicators remain stronger than they were in 2014.

That is the resilience of the Indian economy and the result of prudent economic management.

The Congress from its official handle has used the “C” word for all Hindus. It is not just an insult to believers of Hinduism but also an affront to women.

What makes this even more outrageous is the sheer hypocrisy.

The very people who questioned the existence of Bhagwan Ram, fought the construction of the Ram Mandir for decades, and refused to visit Ayodhya after the Pran Pratishtha now presume to lecture Hindus on faith, devotion and morality.

Those who ridiculed Hindu beliefs whenever it suited their politics have suddenly discovered the language of religiosity.

Hindus do not need sermons from a party that has consistently derided their faith, belittled their civilisational heritage, and viewed their beliefs through the prism of electoral calculations.

Congress should first apologise for this disgraceful slur against Hindus and explain why a party with such contempt for Hindu faith believes it has the moral authority to preach to the very people it continues to insult.

Your allegation rests on a deliberate distortion of what the Raksha Mantri actually said.

His statement in Parliament was made in the specific context of demolishing the false and malicious propaganda that India had lost fighter pilots during #OperationSindoor, a narrative that was being aggressively amplified to undermine the success of the operation and demoralise the nation. To selectively quote one line while suppressing that context is not accountability; it is misinformation.

Even more reprehensible is your attempt to politicise the sacrifice of our brave soldiers.

The Government has never denied or diminished their martyrdom. On the contrary, their names have been inscribed on the National War Memorial, ensuring that their supreme sacrifice is honoured for generations to come. Their families have also been extended educational, healthcare and other welfare benefits in recognition of their service to the nation.

Operation Sindoor was a decisive military success, in which the Indian Armed Forces neutralised over 100 terrorists and Pakistani military personnel while inflicting extensive damage on Pakistani military infrastructure.

Those who spent months amplifying hostile propaganda have no moral authority to lecture anyone on respecting our Armed Forces. The only breach here is the Opposition’s repeated attempt to twist facts, dishonour the context of the Raksha Mantri’s remarks, and exploit the sacrifice of our martyrs for partisan politics.

Congress’s hypocrisy stands exposed.

When the Election Commission conducts the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) to ensure only eligible citizens are on the electoral roll, Rahul Gandhi calls it a “citizenship test” and attacks it as unconstitutional.

But in Karnataka, CM D.K. Shivakumar says the very same SIR electoral roll will determine who gets government schemes, guarantees, pensions and welfare benefits.

So which Congress should India believe?

If SIR is illegitimate, why use it as the gateway to welfare? If it is reliable enough to decide who receives taxpayer-funded benefits, why oppose it when the Election Commission uses it to protect the integrity of the electoral roll?

Congress cannot have it both ways. Their objection was never about the process. It was about politics.
