A theft tactic targeting electronic shops is reportedly being used in Nairobi and other parts of the country. A group of three to five people may enter posing as genuine customers, deliberately keeping attendants busy by asking for different products, making calls and creating confusion. While one person keeps the attendant occupied, another may attempt to walk away with an item.

Protect your stock. Avoid leaving expensive phones, laptops and other electronics loose on counters or within easy reach. Only bring out high value items when necessary, keep track of every item during busy interactions and return products to secure storage immediately when a customer loses interest.

I am receiving information from insiders regarding the management of SHA funds by CS Aden Duale.

Sources allege that between KSh 40- 60 million is being embezzled under the guise of “marketing costs”. Genuine suppliers on the other hand are not being paid and are afraid to speak publicly or demand what they are owed because they fear retaliation.

These are serious allegations involving public money and they deserve urgent scrutiny. SHA should disclose its monthly marketing expenditure, the companies and individuals receiving these payments, the contracts involved, and the services delivered.

Airtel has completed testing Starlink’s satellite phone service in Kenya, allowing ordinary phones to connect directly to satellites for WhatsApp, calls and M-Pesa where there is no network.
