During flooding, oil tanks in basements can float and release oil. We want you to know that if your oil tank was impacted by last month’s storm, @maine_dep will inspect your oil system and advise on cleaning up any spills -- free of charge. https://t.co/wwzdYzdr1D
If you have an oil spill requiring cleanup, I encourage you to contact Maine DEP to see if they can provide cleanup services. This service is available after any weather event, and you can call Maine DEP at (800) 482-0777. The line is staffed 24/7.
Maine law requires drivers to move over or slow down when approaching stopped emergency, public service, or disabled vehicles on the side of the road. Be sure to slow down and give space to line and tree crews working to restore power as well as our DEP HAZMAT responders.
We've restored 86% of customers impacted by Monday's storm.
The industry's hardest-working crews are on the job clearing damage and restoring power. If you see them working roadside, please slow down and give them plenty of space so no one is hurt. Safety is our top priority.
If your power is out due to Post Tropical Cyclone Lee & using a generator, remember to keep it outdoors & at least 20' away windows. Turn off/disconnect appliances, equipment & electronics - momentary power surges can cause damage to plugged in items. FMI: https://t.co/2Y5zSYw6pW
Don't drive through flood waters. Respect barricades. If you come across a downed power line or tree, contact authorities. Pay attention to weather conditions and avoid being on the roads if possible. Please move over for bucket trucks or emergency vehicles.
