The Met Office reported 27.0°C at Frittenden on 25 September as a daily temperature record. But historical records show 30.6°C was recorded at Strathfield Turgis on 25 September 1895. When challenged, Met Office meteorologists reportedly said Strathfield Turgis was “not on our internal records for some reason.”

"Daily temperature records are meaningless in terms of climate and weather. But they are of immense propaganda value," says Paul Homewood.

Andy Burnham's spending promises have not impressed the markets. Bond yields climbed strongly during and after his speech - bad news for debt costs.

It's not surprising, just add up the commitments.

New National Care Service: £20bn pa and likely much more.
Protection of lower-income pensioners from income tax - £0.8bn pa
Youth employment programme - £1.5bn pa
Water public ownership - could easily be another £20bn or much more
“Your First Home” equity loans - £0.8bn pa fiscal subsidy + govt. loans adding to Public Sector Net Debt
Rough-sleeping programme - £0.44bn+ pa
£2 bus fare cap - £0.5bn pa

That totals £44bn minus £0.6bn from triple lock reform, making an extra £43.4bn.

All this guy wants to do is spend more money and tax us more.
