From lived experience to leadership! This week, one of our incredible care leaver we have worked with since last year took the stage, helping deliver a powerful lecture to Sociology students at a South London university. Seeing his growth reminds us why we do what we do.
We brought together 20 new police recruits and 20 young people from the community between the ages of 18-26 —without revealing who was who. After 2 hours of team games and discussions, we revealed that 1/2 the room were officers. The shock turned into real conversations.
@SkyNews It's interesting to see how stats are used to create public outrage. E-bikes and e-scooters have only been available in the last few years so the stats are in line with that fact.
@EpochOfWhat@elqulime@narindertweets The point is that they're the same age. So if two 14 yo got caught and one got sent to prison I'd be equally as outraged
Delivering to pshycology, criminology and forensic science uni students in their 3rd and final year before graduation.
Young people at a transitional period between education and the world of work have so many important decisions to make.

Bottles are collected, sorted and shipped to Costa Rica to be recycled and made into new bottles. This is the epitome of sustainability and we loved being involved in the process.
After spending time in the community and then with the Parisian Police a few things came to light.
There's no blanket way to challenge the issues police face when trying to engage with communities. Historical events and leadership teams will always dictate how much work needs to be done to improve relations.
There is a lot of hurt from the communities side in France and not many have hope when discussing relationship building but the work we just partook in has definitely helped them to see that change is possible, although it may be difficult and lengthy.
Community members outright told me police in Paris would NEVER, EVER engage with them. The fact that I was able to open that door was the first step. I saw the glimmer of hope return to their eyes, still with a bit of scepticism but hope had returned.
