Makerere University CoNAS (College of Natural Sciences) is a constituent College of Makerere University. Our niche is teaching and researching Natural Sciences.
The Academic Year in August opens with the orientation week (1st - 8th August 2026) to provide an opportunity for our freshmen to freely interact with faculty and administrators. This helps the new students better appreciate programme requirements and their responsibilities and lay the foundation for them to thrive academically and otherwise.
This year, Orientation week kicked off with an official ceremony in the Freedom Square on 3rd August before proceeding to Unit level i.e. Colleges, Schools, Institutes, The Main Library and Halls of Residence.
This video captures some of the scenes at the @MakCoNAS orientation held on 5th August in the JICA Building.

Exciting milestone at Makerere University!
Today, VC @ProfNawangwe handed over CCE (Complex) Hall to National Enterprise Corporation-NEC (@NECUPDF), led by Lt. Gen. James Mugira, for a major UGX 12 billion renovation. Fully funded by @GovUganda, this fourth NEC project, following the Perimeter Wall construction, Lumumba & Mary Stuart Halls renovation, will further boost student accommodation within one year.
CCE’s prime location makes it the university’s first impression and we’re confident it will exceed expectations! We are proud of Ugandan expertise delivering world-class results.
