Helping writers of all skill levels (and me) solve problems, build repeatable skill sets, and finish more work. 20+ years experience finishing fiction.
I'm working on my curation of taste as a creative. Intentional intake, intentional reactive discernment. CRITICAL: honesty about my own reactions. Knowing what I like, and not being embarrassed by it. #WritingCommmunity#writerslife#writers#Creatives
@AuthorGoodwin I totally relate to this! Practice helped me get better, but character work is what makes me fall in love with stories. A beautifully flawed protagonist with a real redemption arc can carry so much emotional weight. Nicely done.
What's hardest (for you) about creating characters that feel consistent and drive your story? Where does your biggest challenge tend to exist? #writers#authors#creators
So many new #writers go from having written no fiction at all to trying to write a novel, which in my experience is like trying to learn cooking by attempting to cater a meal for 100 people right out the gate. 🤷 There’s got to be a better way. #WriterCommunity
@KorvenMark I’m hip-deep in writing a Washington Irving-style Halloween folktale, and I’ve had the soundtrack for the VVitch on repeat pretending it’s the soundtrack. Simply one of the most ominous and eerie soundscapes that exists. Masterful stuff.
@GuitarWorld Thank you for letting us all play Stairway to Heaven, Crazy Train, and Enter Sandman on $3,500+ guitars— incorrectly and slightly out of tune— for a century.
I had a rotten habit: I’d create when the pain of not doing the thing became worse than the *imagined* pain of doing it. My new magic trick? I sit down and type (or say) “You know exactly what to do”. Miraculously my brain takes over. Starting is the hard part. #ProductivityTips
