Eric Lombardi makes an interesting point here (19:30) about home equity. If housing wasn't an investment, how many more small businesses would be made as an investment?

The issues behind OC Transpo’s low reliability are not just theirs to blame for - the city and mayor have a direct responsibility as well. Learn more about this in my latest video: https://t.co/AQTXAUtJG0
Bro, these @CommunautoOtt rates are bonkers cheap. And this is a rate increase. Considering the average annual cost of car ownership/operation are $16.6K…you have to use a car *a lot* for ownership to make financial sense.
"Jennifer Chung, commander of community safeguard services with Toronto Paramedic Services, told CTV News Toronto via email that they have not lodged any complaints to the city regarding bike lanes' impact on their response times." https://t.co/M3JVyz4Maw
Engineers select "control vehicles" to define the minimum parameters for standards. What happens when we make human beings the control vehicle? A useful exercise: it makes beautiful, comfortable places a minimum parameter.
.@fordnation & @PrabSarkaria's disingenuous claims that EMS response times are negatively impacted by bike lanes debunked yet again. Bike lanes can be used by EMS to avoid traffic & construction like in this video.

@GraphicMatt@TorontoStar Not to mention 212 primarily focuses on the 413 proposal. Very little has to do with bikes, but the little it does is just completely egregious.
There are some good candidates running for the upcoming elections. Obviously we here love Catherine for their vision and policies for urban planning. We also saw @BrandonBay for the Liberal ticket in his riding, who we've worked with on #StrongTowns projects with in the past.
$1.7 million would be the equivalent of approximately 0.1% property tax increase. To the average property owner, that’d be about $8 more for the year. OC Transpo seems willing to take a big risk on sacrificing some pretty urgent maintenance of our aging fleet.
The city should be moving in the opposite direction, creating a u-pass for all students 18 and under working with the student transportation authorities and create life long transit users.
People, this is our problem. We can't keep passing the buck and saying "can't someone else do it". We have to do the right thing and show some human kindness.
The people Ford and Sarkaria want riding in traffic aren't all "hardcore cyclists". They're mothers, fathers, and friends. Sons and daughters. Just trying to get to work or dinner or do some shopping. Scoring points in a dumb culture war isn't worth putting lives at risk.
@Toon_Dreessen So true. While our system does use parties, it's also very focused on explicitly choosing local candidates (even if we're gutting their choices by requiring them to vote on party lines).
