The reason top tech companies often hire foreign-born & first-generation engineers over “native” Americans isn’t because of an innate American IQ deficit (a lazy & wrong explanation). A key part of it comes down to the c-word: culture. Tough questions demand tough answers & if we’re really serious about fixing the problem, we have to confront the TRUTH:
Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long (at least since the 90s and likely longer). That doesn’t start in college, it starts YOUNG.
A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ, or the jock over the valedictorian, will not produce the best engineers.
A culture that venerates Cory from “Boy Meets World,” or Zach & Slater over Screech in “Saved by the Bell,” or ‘Stefan’ over Steve Urkel in “Family Matters,” will not produce the best engineers.
(Fact: I know *multiple* sets of immigrant parents in the 90s who actively limited how much their kids could watch those TV shows precisely because they promoted mediocrity…and their kids went on to become wildly successful STEM graduates).
More movies like Whiplash, fewer reruns of “Friends.” More math tutoring, fewer sleepovers. More weekend science competitions, fewer Saturday morning cartoons. More books, less TV. More creating, less “chillin.” More extracurriculars, less “hanging out at the mall.”
Most normal American parents look skeptically at “those kinds of parents.” More normal American kids view such “those kinds of kids” with scorn. If you grow up aspiring to normalcy, normalcy is what you will achieve.
Now close your eyes & visualize which families you knew in the 90s (or even now) who raise their kids according to one model versus the other. Be brutally honest.
“Normalcy” doesn’t cut it in a hyper-competitive global market for technical talent. And if we pretend like it does, we’ll have our asses handed to us by China.
This can be our Sputnik moment. We’ve awaken from slumber before & we can do it again. Trump’s election hopefully marks the beginning of a new golden era in America, but only if our culture fully wakes up. A culture that once again prioritizes achievement over normalcy; excellence over mediocrity; nerdiness over conformity; hard work over laziness.
That’s the work we have cut out for us, rather than wallowing in victimhood & just wishing (or legislating) alternative hiring practices into existence. I’m confident we can do it. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
Bill Maher ERUPTS on Yale Psychiatrist Urging Liberals to Cut Off Trump-Supporting Family Members
“You know who I really wouldn’t want to have Thanksgiving dinner with? This overly-educated, extremely stupid, ivory-tower academic. But I would. Because if we ever want this nation to heal, this is what we have to do: force ourselves to reach out and find out why someone feels the way they do and make the choices they make without prejudging them a monster.”
I look forward to working with the Trump Administration on fulfilling his promise to cap credit card interest rates at 10%.
We cannot continue to allow big banks to make record profits by ripping off Americans by charging them 25 to 30% interest rates.
That is usury.
HOLY SMOKES: Jillian Michaels Goes Scorched Earth on RFK Jr. Haters With a Series of Stunning Truth Bombs
“If you're afraid of RFK, you've lost your mind! Take a back seat. Let the professionals in this space handle it.”
• Infertility rates are the highest ever.
• Early-onset cancer diagnoses are up 79% over the last three decades.
• 74% of adults in America are overweight or obese.
• Health-related conditions are the number one cause of bankruptcy.
Moreover, @JillianMichaels says it is hard to be healthy in America because it is difficult “by design.”
1. Big farming proliferates these cheap, toxic calories.
2. Big food picks up those calories and tinkers with them a bit more with their food scientists to make them more addictive and omnipresent.
3. Then Big Pharma catches us on the other side and starts treating all of our sicknesses with their pills for every ill.
“We need change. We need it now. What they're doing isn't working, and it's not working on purpose because it's profitable for the very few.”
Thank you @realDonaldTrump for your leadership and courage. I'm committed to advancing your vision to Make America Healthy Again.
We have a generational opportunity to bring together the greatest minds in science, medicine, industry, and government to put an end to the chronic disease epidemic.
I look forward to working with the more than 80,000 employees at HHS to free the agencies from the smothering cloud of corporate capture so they can pursue their mission to make Americans once again the healthiest people on Earth.
Together we will clean up corruption, stop the revolving door between industry and government, and return our health agencies to their rich tradition of gold-standard, evidence-based science. I will provide Americans with transparency and access to all the data so they can make informed choices for themselves and their families.
My commitment to the American people is to be an honest public servant. Let’s go!
pov: You’re a news outlet relying entirely on ad revenue.
75% of your revenue comes from pharma companies
72% of your ad breaks are for pharma drugs (only legal in 2 countries)
A threat to big pharma threatens your bottom line—so you vilify all opposition.
Thank you, @realDonaldTrump, for the opportunity to serve as a member of your cabinet to defend the safety, security and freedom of the American people. I look forward to getting to work.
RFK Jr. breaks down the MAHA plan to reform USDA in 2 minutes: “We’re going to give farmers an off-ramp from the current system that destroys their health, wrecks the soil, makes Americans sick, and destroys family farms.”
1. “We’re going to REWRITE the regulations to give smaller operators a break.”
2. “We’re going to encourage sustainable regenerative farming that can build soil and replenish aquifers.”
3. “We’re going to BAN the worst agricultural chemicals that are already prohibited in other countries, and we’re going to remove conflicts of interest from the USDA dietary panels and commissions.”

Dear NFL Fans,
No matter how good you think the Vikings are, they’re even better.
If no one else will say it on national TV, I will.

Please give @thefoodbabe a follow. This week she testified in the Senate about ingredients in U.S. foods that are considered to be toxic in Europe. When U.S. food manufacturers make the same foods for the European market, they omit those ingredients. 🤔
We all know what to expect from Presidents Biden and Trump on CNN’s debate stage tonight. Arguments, name calling, accusations, and culture war issues– but no debate on most of the subjects that matter to Americans. That’s because Trump and Biden aren’t so different when it comes down to it. Both represent corporations, private equity firms, pharma, and the military-industrial complex - the interests of which determine what they can talk about.
The good news is that you can still see the three-man debate. We are hosting an alternative debate where you will hear not only Trump’s and Biden’s answers, but mine as well.
Tune in tonight at 6pm PT/ 9pm ET to see the debate as it was meant to be seen, and learn about the election that is really happening--not CNN’s version.

RFK Jr. Flips The Script on CNBC: “We Blew Up the Nord Stream Pipeline”
CNBC: “They [Germany] are freaking out because they need our gas.”
@RobertKennedyJr: “Yeah, they’re freaking out because we blew up the Nord Stream pipeline, and we deindustrialized Germany. What are we doing in Ukraine? Let’s make peace over there. Let’s get Russian gas back into Europe so that we can reindustrialize Germany, and reindustrialize Europe. Let’s keep our gas at home and use it for manufacturing and reindustrialize America ... Germany is making a choice to boycott Russian gas.”
