Over recent weeks there’s been really concerning announcements around the early release of serious sexual offenders and child abusers.

I’ve done several interviews around this expressing the horror I feel at this woeful idea that undermines everything our so called criminal justice system should deliver! Victims and survivors have often carried not only the horror of the abuse itself, but also the years of trauma fighting to get justice! When they finally do, to then be told their abusers will be released after serving less than A THIRD of the sentence, it’s yet another horrific kick in the teeth!

It’s wrong! It sends out the wrong g messsge that child rape isn’t all that bad, it’s not a deterrent and it should NOT be happening!

This is a result of years of neglect, of underinvestment, of decades of disgracefully allowing our once admired criminal justice system to decay to this level!

So we were absolutely onboard and supportive of this huge effort by survivor JADE BELGRAVE as she delivered her petition to Number 10, and we were more than happy to add our name to her letter and sign the petition.

This just MUST NOT happen. And the more noise survivors and the public make, the more chance there is this will be halted!

In my opinion We should be building many more prisons, not “criminalising” people for naughty words and sending them to prison for the same time that monstrous child abusers serve! It’s just unbelievable and we must fight back!!

Huge respect to Jade, and it brings joy to my heart to finally see more and more survivors now standing up to use their voices and being loud and proud demanding what we all know to be RIGHT!!!
