Florida is recovering from one hurricane while another is on the way.
-The Republican Governor is refusing to talk with the President to coordinate hurricane relief
-All Florida Republicans in Congress voted against supplemental disaster relief money for FEMA
-82 House Republicans, including 11 from Florida, voted to shut down the government, knowing a powerful hurricane was on its way
-The Republican-controlled House took a vacation for the month of August instead of passing a budget on time, which means no new FEMA budget
-The Republican Speaker of the House is refusing to reconvene Congress from their second month-long vacation to pass emergency supplemental funds for FEMA
-The Republican presidential nominee continually lies about the federal disaster response instead of making sure his voters have the correct information to receive help
-The Republican party wants to eliminate FEMA and NOAA (the agency that monitors, tracks, and predicts the path of hurricanes)
-The Republican Party refuses to acknowledge climate change while watching insurance companies leave Florida because increasingly stronger storms are making insurance claims too expensive to operate
Florida, why do you keep voting for the party that not only does nothing for you but actively works against your best interests?
You know who LOVES discipline in schools?
The other 29 kids in a classroom that aren’t throwing furniture or cussing out their teachers, want to learn, and want a break from the chaos of their misbehaving peers
Kindergarten wasn’t meant to establish a base of knowledge, it was meant to grow and nurture the existing knowledge that was planted at home by the parents.
Too many parents have abdicated their responsibility.
Four things we should do to improve public education.
1. Universal free lunch/breakfast for K-12
2. Fully paid internship for all 1st year teachers. Allow them to co-teach for one year.
3. A mandatory cap of 25 Ss in ALL classes.
4. Universal Free Pre-K
All game changers.
Three pastors resigned or were fired from North Texas churches yesterday. Here is a full list of North Texas pastors involved in controversies this year, including some who stepped down from their posts https://t.co/TeU6o4dR3J
Trump's former White House officials didn't speak at the Republican convention, they are speaking at the Democratic convention.
The people who worked for him and know him best think he should not be anywhere near the White House.
Let that sink in.
Flashback to November 2015 when Trump mocked a disabled reporter. This should have been the end of Trump’s political career.
Today we learned that Donald Trump said that disabled people “should just die.”
How can anyone vote for this psychopath?
Pencils, crayons, markers, paper (in all forms), scissors, and other BASIC SUPPLIES should be provided to teachers/students BY THEIR DISTRICT and replenished every year with no questions asked. It is absolutely ABSURD that this doesn’t happen in America.
If a parent asks how they can help their child succeed in school, please start with the BASICS:
•𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩…8-10 hours
•𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧…must limit sugar
•𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐦…let them fail without quickly trying to save them
•𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐀𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 30 𝐦𝐢𝐧/𝐝𝐚𝐲…preferably something they want to read! 📖
•𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞/𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲…helps kids with several life skills including problem solving & sharing
Private schools
* private funding (no transparency)
* private board (not elected by the people)
* selective admission (special needs, special education students need not apply)
Not good for Texas, not good for Texas families
