If the federal government has legitimate fraud concerns, prove them. But don’t confuse political theater with fiscal accountability.

JD Vance’s announcement today about deferring $1.3 billion in Medicaid reimbursements to California over alleged fraud is fundamentally an argument about accountability, transparency, and whether California can prove that taxpayer dollars are being properly managed.
