John Eric most likely doesn’t think it makes sense to have a high end backup. For what? We have too many holes on this roster for a backup to be of any help. If Malik goes down the shits gonna get ugly regardless. All a better backup QB is gonna do is worsen the draft order for Sully. I don’t think he wants that. Play hard and compete the best you can with what you have cuz there’s to many holes on this roster. We have 16mill in cap space we can roll over towards next year to help offset some dead money
Flacco is a high end backup tf u talking about. Backups QB’s aren’t suppose to be starter level but just incase you been living under a rock Flacco has appeared in 13 games over the last 2 years and thrown for over 4200 yards in those 13 games 🤣 only 4 QB’s threw for more than 4200 yards last year and they played 17 games. By the way 4240 pass yards over 13 games is an avg of 326 pass yards per game. That’s elite for a backup QB regardless of the INT’s. Maybe he sucks this year but he’s been a phenomenal backup the last 2 years “arguably” the best backup dude
I wanted to see them play just as much as you did David but no need to create a man child post calling for Jeff’s job. Seeing these kinds of posts are dissapointing. We were told why the starters may not play and I was at joint practice. I can confirm the starters got a ton of work in against the Giants starters. We moved the ball early on and broke a 70 yard run for a TD. The reports of the Giants pass rush are a bit overblown. Austin Jackson was ass, nobody else gave up any sacks. Sacks came from free runners and 2 of them came from DB’s. Hardbough is a try hard. He blitz the Dolphins the entire joint practice like they owed him money. Id be more concerned if those sacks came from a basic 4 man rush but that simply wasn’t the case. That said, we have to work on blitz pickups but to send the starters out there after saying Wednesday they probably won’t play would make me think that the Giants got in their head and change their mind. That would look weak. The depth guys actually needed the work more
We definitely don’t have a capable backup QB but I have a feeling John Eric would’ve upgraded it by now if he wanted to. If Malik God forbid misses time the coaching staff may think it makes more sense to run it with what we have than have a guy like Joe Flacco for example. A guy like that may win 1-3 games which won’t do anything for this franchise other than worsen their draft positioning. And that’s not tanking. You still go out there and compete to the best of your ability and call the best game u possibly can but no need to patch a position that’s certainly doomed if Malik goes down. If we had a talented roster then a high end backup would make sense but it just doesn’t make sense with this roster.
I believe he’s a starter in the league. Watching him it looks natural. When he has time he makes the right read, he zips the ball outside the numbers effortlessly, something very few QB’s can do. He checks all the boxes. Haff and JES know him better than anyone and were willing to gamble because they see the obvious. Hes a freak talent. Mendoza went #1 overall and he’s not a better football player than Malik Willis. Im sorry but anyone that disagrees is a Mendoza fan or doesn’t know how to evaluate traits and talent. Fernando Mendoza does nothing better than Malik Willis
Sounds like he’s putting guys out there for not knowing what to do when they’re on the field. Why would he meant it as an excuse for himself? That would sound weak. I think hes saying that guys didn’t pick up their assignment many times and that in meetings guys get it right but they crumble when it’s game time. I could be wrong but that’s how I understand it
@3YardsPerCarry Max Lewellyn is ass. Been watching him and his moves aren’t good enough. Very average athlete that lacks power. Saw him try to make a move on a tackle today and I got 2nd hand embarrassment off how slow that lil shit looked
@touring_drummer@prestonnwalshh@MiamiDolphins@Lexus Coach can’t help them shed blocks or pickup blitzes on time. What he can absolutely do is cut that future UPS worker Charlie Heck. wtf! That dude is ass!!!!
Coleman looks like an NFL talent. He missed out on a couple opportunities but it was tight coverage and there was rain so I won’t be to hard on him. He’s been flashing. I like the guys we drafted. It’s gonna take another draft or 2 to build the depth we need. We do have some money next year but we’ll have even more the year after. It’s looking like a 2 year rebuild. This year and next year. But after that we should have a contender if JES and the staff hit on the picks. Can’t do much when your depth is filled with trashcans. Perhaps some pick ups after cuts can help out in a few areas p
Coleman, Douglas and Bell should be the starters. Let the young guys play. Malik Washington shouldn’t start at the slot. I know he’s worked very hard but he simply isn’t big, strong or physical enough to threaten anything over 15-20 yards down field. Hes a catch & run guy. Coleman does that and more. Idk how good either 3 of them will be but it looks like all 3 could play so allow them to start so long as they’re ready for it
