Epic Games is making major changes in Unreal Engine 5.8 to tackle one of the biggest problems and complaints from gamers in modern games: stuttering.
According to Epic’s VP of Engineering, the new version builds on the PSO Precaching system introduced in Unreal Engine 5.2. It reduces unnecessary shader work, improves shader deduplication, prepares more graphics data ahead of time, and reduces frame-time spikes and microstutters.
These improvements mainly target shader compilation stutter, a problem that has affected many Unreal Engine games, especially on PC. Epic said stuttering can also stem from game-specific optimization, so developers will still need to do their part.
MStudios will need to update to Unreal Engine 5.8 or implement the improvements themselves.

Another RTX 4090 melting incident has surfaced on the r/pcmasterrace subreddit. A user reported that their PC suddenly crashed during a gaming session, which led to an unpleasant discovery inside the case.
The owner was using a Gigabyte RTX 4090 paired with a standard PVC 16-pin power cable. While the exact power supply unit remains unknown, the connector completely melted and caused the hardware to fail.
This situation highlights the ongoing issues with the high-power connectors on flagship graphics cards. PC hardware enthusiasts continue to warn about the risks of improper cable seating and excessive bending. #RTX4090 #Gigabyte #PCGaming #Hardware #Reddit
