@ibn_rashed_ I’d implement automated duplicate-claim detection. One agent shouldn’t be able to submit the same complaint repeatedly with minor wording changes to overwhelm validators.

[Ka!zen @ibn_rashed_]

There is something deeply wrong with a system where accepting an unfair outcome can be cheaper than proving you were right.

And I don’t think we talk about that enough.

Take Lee Castleton’s case.

A faulty computer system reported roughly £23,000 missing from his Post Office branch. He disputed the figures, couldn’t afford legal representation, and eventually faced £321,000 in legal costs.

He went bankrupt.

The disturbing part isn’t just that the system was wrong. It’s that challenging its conclusions exposed him to consequences far greater than the original accusation.

Now apply that same economic reality to an AI-driven economy.

Suppose your autonomous agent pays another agent $40 to complete a task. The receiving agent submits work that doesn’t meet the agreed requirements but insists the job is finished.

You have evidence supporting your complaint.

However, investigating the disagreement through conventional legal channels could cost more than the transaction itself.

So you abandon the claim.

Not because the other agent was right, but because pursuing the truth would be financially irrational.

Multiply that situation across millions of automated agreements, and something troubling emerges.

We could end up with an economy where small violations are effectively tolerated because challenging them costs too much.

And once participants understand that, the incentives become even worse.

A dishonest operator doesn’t need to win every dispute. They only need to make disputes expensive enough that most people won’t bother pursuing them.

This is the problem I think @GenLayer’s adjudication layer is attempting to address.

Multiple independent AI validators examine evidence and collectively reach verdicts in minutes, at a fraction of traditional court costs.

Making adjudication inexpensive enough for smaller transactions changes the economics of accountability.

It becomes possible to challenge misconduct without spending more than you’re trying to recover.

Of course, affordable adjudication also introduces questions about frivolous complaints and attempts to manipulate the system. A dispute mechanism must discourage abuse without making legitimate challenges prohibitively expensive.

That’s a difficult balance, but it’s one worth solving before autonomous commerce becomes widespread.

I want builders, researchers, and anyone designing AI payment systems to consider this carefully:

If filing a dispute costs almost nothing, how would you prevent malicious actors from flooding the system with false complaints?

But if you introduce expensive filing fees to prevent abuse, aren’t you recreating the same financial barriers we’re trying to eliminate?

Share the mechanism you’d actually implement. Refundable bonds, penalties for dishonest claims, reputation-based limits, or something entirely different? Defend your choice in the replies.
