The most important part of what I said here: I would STILL do everything necessary to address the problem.
If a doctor diagnosed me with cancer, I’m not saying I’d ignore the diagnosis or refuse treatment. I’d go to chemo. I’d take the medication. I’d follow the treatment plan.
But mentally, I’m not waking up every day affirming “I have cancer” and making that diagnosis my identity. While doing everything medically necessary, my internal dialogue would be: “I’m getting healthy. I’m going to beat this. I’m cancer free.”
There’s a difference between acknowledging a reality so you can take action and allowing that reality to define what you believe about your future.
That was my point.
