Soft charging thresholds, early releases, and a policing model that treated low-level theft as not worth the paperwork all had predictable results.

The latest MoJ data shows that, where ethnicity was known, 90.5% of people prosecuted for shop theft were White.
Only 3.5% were Black and 2.4% Asian.

And 69.1% were aged 30–49; just 5.6% were under 21.

There were racist beatings of non-white individuals, and mob attacks on non-white people in cars. Homes and cars were attacked in residential streets. Shops were looted. Police vehicles were set alight. Muslim graves were vandalised. Immigration lawyers and asylum charities were named on a target list. There were 1,840 arrests and 1,103 charges. Didn't see Jenrick confronting any far-right thugs.
