If you are a Muslim and this clip fails to stir any awareness in you about the Day of Qiyaamah, then you are either uninformed about it or heedless of its seriousness.

This is a cheap representation of how things will unfold on the Day of Qiyaamah. I call it “cheap” because only a few million people will see this humiliation, unlike the Day of Qiyaamah when every single soul will assemble and witness the humiliation.

The responses and reactions of Bwala give a glimpse of how people will deny their deeds, and how those deeds will then be shown to them.

Allah says:

وَوُضِعَ الْكِتَابُ فَتَرَى الْمُجْرِمِينَ مُشْفِقِينَ مِمَّا فِ��هِ وَيَقُولُونَ يَا وَيْلَتَنَا ��َالِ هَٰذَا الْكِتَابِ لَا يُغَادِرُ صَغِيرَةً وَلَا كَبِيرَةً إِلَّا أَحْصَاهَا

“And the record ˹of deeds˺ will be laid open, and you will see the wicked fearful of what is ˹written˺ in it. They will cry, ‘Woe to us! What kind of record is this that does not leave any sin, small or large, unlisted?’”

The way Bwala’s clips were played right after each denial resembles how Allah will present our deeds to us. Of course, humans would want to claim, “I didn’t do this; it was never me,” simply because those things were recorded in writing. Allah then says:

وَوَجَدُوا۟ مَا عَمِلُوا۟ حَاضِرًۭا ۗ وَلَا يَظْلِمُ رَبُّكَ أَحَدًۭا

“They will find whatever they did present before them, and your Lord will never wrong anyone.”

We will bring what is written in that book before them, present & evident, Live & direct, so that they will know they were never wronged.

In this video you posted, you stated ON RECORD that the gazetted copy does not contain the requirement of a 20% deposit before an appeal can be heard. You are correct with respect to the version uploaded on the Fiscal Reforms website.

However, that same provision appears in the gazetted copy published by the Ministry of Information, which we have in our possession!

The Nigeria Tax Administration Act can not mean two different things at the same time. Yet subsection (8) in the version uploaded on the Fiscal Reforms website is materially different from the gazetted copy issued by the Ministry of Information.

In the Ministry of Information version, subsection (8) expressly introduces the 20% deposit requirement that you claim not to be true.

Gazetting is not a suggestion. It is the final and authoritative record of what was passed into law. So who altered subsection (8), when was it altered, and under what authority? Any post-assent alteration of a law is a criminal offense, and with litigation imminent, these discrepancies will have to be explained.

Ahmad, I respect your work in the field, but you are making a fundamental category mistake here. You cannot separate the "misunderstanding" from the "making" of Shekau. That is not a "separate article"—that is the entire story.

To say we are just being "politically correct" is a cop-out. We are insisting on academic and historical accuracy.

Here is the theology you don’t understand:

The Kharijites— who are the forefathers of groups like Boko Haram, quoted the Quran to justify assassinating Ali (RA), the Prophet's cousin. They had the Quran on their tongues and in their camps. By your logic, we should list the Quran as one of the "drivers of their extremism" simply because they cited it. But we don’t. We recognize that their distortion of the text was the problem, not the text itself.

Mohammed Yusuf naming his headquarters "Markaz Ibn Taymiyyah" is nothing more than branding. A quack doctor can name his clinic "Johns Hopkins," but that doesn't mean Johns Hopkins is responsible for his malpractice.

When you refuse to engage with how they twisted Ibn Taymiyyah’s words and simply say "well, they cited him," you are inadvertently validating their claim to scholarship. You are granting them a legitimacy they do not possess.

Shekau wasn't "made" by Ibn Taymiyyah. He was made by the rejection of the very methodology Ibn Taymiyyah stood for, which we believe is rigorous adherence to context and the consensus of the Sunnah.

If you want to understand the "drivers of extremism," you have to look at the weaponization of illiteracy, not the bibliography of the scholars they slandered.

Don't push the "misunderstanding" to a separate article. That implies the misunderstanding is a footnote. In reality, the misunderstanding is the engine.
