We are exactly 1 month from the September 2026 equinox on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 00:06 UTC, when the sun is expected to go overhead the Equator marking the change of seasons.
With a very strong El Nino (could be the strongest ever recorded) properly established in the Equatorial Pacific, and a +ve IOD coming up in the Indian Ocean nearer home, #Kenya & the greater Horn of Africa are anticipating an Oct-Nov-Dec rainy season with highly enhanced precipitation and, probably an extension of the season into Jan 2027.
Going forward, our focus shifts to:
* Monitoring the southward shift of the Inter-Tropical-Convergence-Zone (ITCZ) from the Sahel region & the Ethiopian highlands into Equatorial Africa including Kenya
* Watching out for any tropical activity & disturbances in the Western Indian Ocean adjacent to the East African coastline
* Change in direction and strength of the trade winds in the Indian Ocean (zonal upper & lower level wind anomalies)
These parameters will help us ascertain with precision the exact onset hours, dates & weeks of the much-awaited rains.

POLITICAL PARTIES IN KENYA ARE GENERAL ELECTIONS SPVs

Raila Odinga nearly succeeded in making ODM, a durable national political party with socialist ideology. It took part in several election cycles. Political rarity in Kenya.

For 2027 General Elections, the Biggest Parties will be UDA & DCP, your useless emotions aside!

ODM has been reduced to a regional troupe that dances to whoever pays the piper! Jubilee is all but extinct. Mercifully, in 2027, UDA will commit fratricide & kill both ODM & Jubilee.

For 2027, Kenyans will have a BINARY CHOICE on which between UDA & DCP they will support. The other Parties will have similar choice to be part of these two Parties or they be reduced to village SACCOs.
