This is HUGE for the USMNT 🇺🇸 and Mexico 🇲🇽
If it happens, that means they get to face top European sides in COMPETITIVE games during the cycle… instead of crap friendlies.
This is a game changer.
So MLS said “they will take it from here” after the World Cup ended…
Since then… they decided to pause MLS for the Leagues Cup, which NOBODY cares about.
Then pause the Leagues Cup to go back to MLS, you know just to confuse every new soccer fan.
Now they are planning on making the MLS playoffs more confusing than ever on top of making the regular season more irrelevant than ever.
All of this with no increased spending or changes on the roster rules.
BRILLIANT, no?
MLS may continue to grow, stagnate… whatever… but can we all agree that they did almost close to nothing prior, during and after to fully capitalize on the 2026 World Cup hype?
@DatWay6997 They should just make it “2 seasons” in 1 like Mexico.
Apertura and Clausura. Less teams make the playoffs but less regular season games so each games matter more.
And keep the playoffs simple, 1 leg knockout games.
Sometimes simplicity is better.
Ok, like it or not South American ⚽️ is on a decline and CONCACAF just sucks… but if both work together they might be able to compete with UEFA over the long run.
So let’s talk about CONMEBOL and CONCACAF “merging” and is it even possible?

New: MLS is planning another potential overhaul to its playoff system, one that could involve as many as 20 teams, feature a "double-elimination" component along with a mess of other changes. Nothing finalized yet.

Based on the reports, US 🇺🇸 Soccer made a renewal offer to Pochettino over a month ago, maybe 2.
Which he waited and that’s fine we had the World Cup but what is he waiting for now?
Could he be waiting for the Argentina 🇦🇷 job? Scaloni said he will leave in December so could it be…?
18 years old, taller than Tom Cruise, has scored 3 goals in 4 MLS games as a CB while also looking competent on defense.
It’s early, it is very early but there is something there with Neil Pierre.
