The uncomfortable truth is that many men were socialised to understand masculinity through economic superiority: I must earn more, provide more, control more. So when the woman earns more, the threat is often not financial—it is psychological.
But a relationship is not a corporate hierarchy where the person with the larger salary becomes the CEO.
If your partner earns more than you, that does not make you less of a man. It simply means your individual incomes are unequal. What matters is whether the relationship itself is equitable, respectful and mutually supportive.
And “qina ephaketheni” is actually the whole lesson. 😂 If your ego cannot survive your woman earning more than you, the problem isn't her salary. It is the fragility of the identity you attached to your salary.
Men need to stop treating their partner's economic success as a referendum on their masculinity.
A woman's success does not diminish a man. But a man's insecurity can absolutely diminish a relationship.

I have a deep respect for people's privacy. I can be very close to someone for years and still not know everything about them, and I never feel the need to ask. And It's not like I don't care. I believe that if someone hasn't chosen to share something, it isn't my place to ask!!
You don’t need dual income with a man btw, get yourself a good friend, get your finances together and rent a nice apartment with enough space for the both of you and share all the expenses. You don’t need to do this hard life with a man
