lIf you do anything today, watch @MaeveHalligan at the Cambridge Union. I genuinely think this was the first time many people in that room were confronted with the hard reality of the trans debate, rather than the slogans that usually surround it.
@BuckAngel was exceptional: calm, articulate, humane. Ultimate respect.
And then there was Helen Webberley. I remember once thinking the criticism directed at her by GC women was excessive, especially the claim she was ‘pure evil’. After hearing her speak, I no longer think that. She is totally insincere. I can deal with hard ideologues- they believe they are telling the truth; they are genuine, @HelenWebberley is different.
One audience member, a trans-identified male and former patient of hers, stood to speak during points of information. His account of how he had been treated was deeply disturbing.
Watch the full debate. It is worth your time.
Manchester feminists should be following this case with interest.
Lorna Young, GC Mancunian’s tribunal against Manchester City Council. Link to substack in first comment.
We're about to start live tweeting this pms session of day 3 of LY v Manchester City Council. She alleges discrimination due to her GC and religious beliefs.
This morning's session is here: https://t.co/VPRRcLmZjA
@HathorsDaughter We’ll be boycotting Eurovision already, as in previous years, due to the inclusion of Israel.
Sadly unsurprising that the organisation that turns a blind eye to genocide and a rapist state also condones routine sexual violence in song lyrics.
We’re going to be on Radio Sussex at 8am today talking about the harassment we’ve received. Multiple venues have cancelled our yoga classes for traumatised women.
@VirginaRay57067@LesMs38@novaramedia@OwenJonesStan@AaronBastani@kieran_andrieu Don’t be ridiculous. ISREAL is committing a genocide, not ‘Jewish people’. Conflating the two is what feeds antisemitism.
There are Jews who stand up for Palestinians, there are Muslims who fight for women’s rights, and there are maniacs of all religions and none.
@LesMs38@novaramedia@OwenJonesStan@AaronBastani@kieran_andrieu It’s also pretty antisemitic to imply that all Jewish people support Israel’s genocide! And patently untrue.
Astute point re DARVO.
Do you wonder if these genocide supporting women are also covering up their own guilt and shame? That’s where a lot of DARVO comes from of course
We built Jikipedia, a new wiki that compiles Jmail data into exhaustive reports on key figures in the Epstein scandal.
It lists all recorded visits to Epstein's estates, each person's possible knowledge of Epstein's crimes and laws that they may have violated.
Here is Epstein's executive assistant, who sent >100k emails to him and was shielded from prison via a 2007 non-prosecution deal.
Read this. Read everything you can about the Epstein files. ‘It’s sickening’ is not a reason not to read. It’s the reason we should all know more about it and hold them to account.
The rich have always abused the poor. It’s how they get rich and how they stay rich. The rich men in the Epstein circle believed themselves above the law, and poor girls below contempt.
We should all be shocked by recent revelations but it’s no surprise.
‘How could the elite do this to daughters of the poor?’
THEY ALWAYS HAVE.
At the height of Victorian morality, when white Englishmen felt they were so Christian & superior, they should rule the world:
‘high class’ brothels offered a child rape experience.
MANY brothels.

When someone says surrogacy was the “safest option,” what they usually mean is safest for them. That word is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Pregnancy doesn’t become safe, it just gets transferred to a poorer woman whose risk is treated as acceptable.
Saw that Dylan Mulvaney is playing Anne Boleyn 🙄. What a performative piece of casting
Not being able to produce a living heir for Henry V111 was such a tragic part of Anne Boleyn’s story and it was a huge part of why she was killed by him
If she had been a man, no one would have killed her for not bearing the King a son
And the saddest thing is she miscarried, likely a son. So she had to suffer that loss
Her whole history, her context, and the impact of her sex on her life, is completely collapsed if she’s reimagined as a bloke in a frock
And her daughter Elizabeth 1 was not only one of our greatest monarchs but also had her life entirely altered by the fact of being female
It’s interesting to see how often a lack of desire to understand history is present in people who lack empathy for others. Especially empathy for women.
Seems like you need to actually care about people to care about the people of the past
If they can rewrite women of now, of course they won’t feel much shame about rewriting the women of back then
But it’s as stupid as it is sad
Several studies have shown that, if the word ‘rape’ is not used, a significant proportion of men will admit to being rapists after reading descriptions of various rape scenarios.
A lot of men will say “rape is bad” truthfully, but they mean “I think an evil sadist raping a virginal, likeable woman in a public park in daylight is bad”.
The minute you dig into whether a sex worker can be raped, if giving an ultimatum over sex is rape, or if having sex with a sleeping woman is rape, suddenly you get a lot of excuses for rape.
