Nods head. User-space isn't going away for comprehensive L7 #Envoyproxy. Units of maintenance & isolation are critical in real-world usage. Far more important than that last gram of performance.
Istio 1.12 is out!

New in this release: an API for WebAssembly plugins, metrics and access logging control in the new Telemetry API, Helm and Gateway API support, and much more.
@DivineOps redhat is the most prominent example of a company monetizing OSS - $3.4bn revenue in 2019.
Upgrades, support, security, and managed or hosted services.
The sad reality is I have not seen any of the folks on these types of threads attend any @IstioMesh meetings whether it's Working Group or TOC. If you want change, why not participate, get involved and then together with community improve what's not working?
@michaelkipper@IstioMesh@linkerd Envoy-only telemetry is possible with istio which disables the current version of istio-telemetry. There is some degradation in metrics labels, but cpu and latency are more in line with our plans for full istio telemetry generated by the proxy.
@michaelkipper@IstioMesh@linkerd Just to be clear this observation is with istio-telemetry โenabledโ. We do have plans to address cpu and latency associated with istio-telemetry.

@stefanprodan Can you please comment on the issue https://t.co/JcnHnB99He?
Is your graph for telemetry or policy?
Can you attach go-torch flamegraph from port 9093? Thanks.
