I've met people who announce everything they're about to do.
New business.
New project.
New investment.
New plan.
By the time they finish telling everybody, they've already received enough applause to feel like they've succeeded.
Then I've seen people quietly work for months and suddenly something appears.
No announcement.
No noise.
Just results.
You don't have to tell everybody what you're building while you're still laying the foundation.

As we get busy with life, we shouldn't forget the people who genuinely care about us.

There are some phone calls you don't appreciate until you really need one.
A simple:
"How are you doing?"
No request.
No business.
No favour.
Just somebody checking on you.
Life gets busy and people disappear into their own problems.
But I've noticed something: sometimes the people who don't have much to offer are the ones who still make the effort to show up.
Don't underestimate the value of checking on people.
You may be giving them exactly what they needed that day.

I understand why she's angry, but the real problem here is secrecy on both sides.
She tried to withdraw a huge sum without telling him he lost trust. But instead of rebuilding it, he spent years quietly buying property in his mother's name, keeping his own wife locked out of what he owned.
At that point, they weren't building a marriage. They were building defenses against each other.
If you can't trust your wife with money, say so. If you can't trust her enough to disclose what you own, say that too.
Marriage isn't a competition over who hides better.

A friend bought a new car and somebody immediately started asking how much he earns.
Another person gets promoted and the first question is who he knows.
Someone builds a house and people start calculating where the money came from.
Why are we so uncomfortable simply allowing another person to succeed?
You don't have to investigate every man's blessing.
Sometimes just say "congratulations" and continue with your own journey.
Another man's progress doesn't reduce yours.

In fact, if na me be the father and I see say my inlaw genuinely cannot afford the kind of wedding being demanded, I will personally look for how to reduce the burden and assist where I can.
My daughter getting married happily is more important to me than proving that she is my Ada by how expensive I can make the ceremony.
The man has already shown commitment, and the girl even sacrificed her Keke to support him when he was trying to travel.
Make everybody calm down. Marriage is the beginning; wedding is just one day. Don't use one day to put a young couple under unnecessary financial pressure.

To me, this man is not looking for advice anymore. He's looking for somebody to witness the decision he has already made.
If you've decided to stay, then stay and take responsibility for that decision. But don't keep looking for people to convince you that you were right or wrong.
Forgiveness doesn't mean you must continue a marriage. And staying doesn't make you weak either. But if you choose to stay, you need clear boundaries, honesty and accountability from both sides dont worry you will be fine.
Personally, if I were in his shoes and I had already decided that I couldn't continue after being deeply disrespected, I wouldn't need anybody to force me back into the marriage.
You can honour your parents and respect your religion without losing yourself in the process.
But he has made his choice now. He will have to live with it and hopefully learn from it.

One thing I don't want to become is a man who provides everything but is hardly present.
Money matters.
Taking care of your family matters.
Building a future matters.
But your children also need memories with you.
They need conversations.
They need your attention.
They need to know who their father is beyond the person paying the bills.
You can provide a house for your family and still fail to make it feel like home.
Build the future, yes.
But don't be so busy building it that you miss the people you're building it for.

Bro, I actually agree with you on one thing. If the choice is between a 4year old finishing sweeping and washing plates and getting to school on time, abeg let the child go to school. I don't support that one either.

But my point about responsibility still stands.

Responsibility at 4 doesn't mean giving the boy adult house chores. It can be something as simple as keeping his toys after playing, carrying his own cup, helping to tidy his space or doing small things appropriate for his age.

So yes, if the woman expected him to sweep and wash plates before going to school, she got that part wrong.

But we shouldn't now move from "a 4year old shouldn't be doing heavy housework" to "a 4-year-old cannot learn responsibility".

Those are two different things, bro.

That's actually the point I've been making from the beginning.

Maybe I didn't make the point clearly enough. Here's the simple version... I don't support making a 4year old miss school to sweep and wash plates. I do support teaching children small, age appropriate responsibilities. And I think the bigger marital issue in that story deserves attention too. That's my point.

This is probably the closest comment to my actual point. I agree that sweeping and washing plates before school is too much for a 4 year old. If that's exactly what happened, the woman got that part wrong. My argument was simply that children can still learn small, age appropriate responsibilities. I wasn't advocating child labour.
