The Munoz-Ballester lab having fun today at Greater Baltimore Society for Neuroscience #GBSfN2025 annual meeting.
This is the first time the lab is presenting two posters (big shout out to @MandiLicht and Aniket for that).
The most complex piece I ever made, the famous Purkinje neuron drawn 100 years ago by Ramon y Cajal. It took me more than 30h of cutting with a scroll saw.
It was the End of an Era and we knew it. We wanted to remember every moment leading up to the culmination of the most important and intense chapter of our lives, so we allowed filmmakers to capture this tour and all the stories woven throughout it as it wound down. And to film the final show in its entirety.
The Eras Tour | The Final Show, featuring the entire Tortured Poets Department set, and the first two episodes of The End of an Era, a 6-episode behind-the-scenes docuseries will be yours December 12th on @DisneyPlus
Having a great time at #Gliadelphia!
It is so nice to listen to great science, to meet with old friends (@AGungorAydin and Leanne Holt) and to enjoy the first conference with my students.

Today's image for #FluorescenceFriday is in the rat hippocampus. We have DAPI🔵, Ki67 (dividing cells)🟢, s100 (astrocytes)🔴, NeuroTracer (neurons)🩷 and GFAP (astrocytes) 🟡
Don't they look like fireworks at this magnification?

Image of cultured human astrocytes from @MandiLicht. GFAP in green and pSTAT3 in green. These cells were treated with pro-inflammatory molecules (IL-1b and TNFa). This is the first experiment in the lab with these cells :)

For this #FluorescenceFriday I share a beautiful picture of the brain taken my PhD student @MandiLicht. Orange: Iba1, green: GFAP, magenta: S100b and blue: DAPI.
