Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro says RFK Jr. reached out to him this morning and offered federal staff to assist after two unvaccinated people in Lancaster County died from measles, Pennsylvania’s first measles deaths in 35 years and the first reported in the U.S. this year.

That’s the real argument DOJ lawyers made to a federal judge Monday, defending the Trump-installed Kennedy Center board’s push to carve his name into the building.

Their filing: block the renaming, and donors flee, funding dries up, and the “unsafe, decrepit” building will have to be torn down.

Translation: this was never about upkeep. The money only shows up if Trump’s name is on the wall.

Except the record already shows the opposite. Since Trump took over the board in 2025, Hamilton, Issa Rae, Renée Fleming, Ben Folds, and a growing list of others all walked — specifically because of the renaming push. A petition urging major donors to pull funding neared 100,000 signatures. The 2025 Honors drew the smallest audience in the show’s history.

The name isn’t what’s keeping the lights on. It’s what’s turning them, and everyone, off.

Whenever I criticize any Trump decision, even slightly, he’ll get personally offended and won’t want to talk about it. So I’ve
avoided voicing my disdain over his attacks on Massie, spending, Ag, etc. when Dad is in the room.

Today, after the beef import announcement, Dad shook his head, sadly, and said, “you know, I really don’t think he gives a damn about anyone who isn’t rich, and sure not about ranchers. Never wanted to believe that until today.”

There wasn’t a more stalwart Trump supporter on the planet.
