PD Rocco from Hampshire Police was called to assist in the search for a vulnerable male who had left his home and entered woodlands. Upon arrival, Rocco began tracking and located the male under a bridge half a mile later. Thanks to PD Rocco, the male is safe and receiving the help he needs. Great work, Rocco! ๐๐๐ถ๐ฌ๐ง
Across the UK, police dogs are being deployed on the frontline to deal with violent public disorder, yet are not provided with any PPE, such as body armour or eye protection. A police officer would not attend such an incident without adequate protection, so why it acceptable for police dogs.
We will be seeking urgent reform from Home Secretary @YvetteCooperMP & Policing Minister @DianaJohnsonMP to ensure suitable and appropriate personal protective equipment is issued to police dogs across the UK.
Our thoughts are with the below police dogs who have been injured over the past week, and we wish them a speedy recovery. ๐๐ฌ๐ง๐ถ
๐ถ PD Vixen was hit with a brick, just above the eye.
๐ถ PD Creed and fellow canine colleagues were showered in glass.
๐ถ Police Dog Zoe sustained a laceration to her leg.
๐ถ PD Ike sustained a cut mouth and swelling to his front leg.
๐ถ PD Quga suffered burns to her back leg.
Anyone else woken up this morning to listen anxiously to the news and feeling relieved, prouder of who we are, and just a bit more disdainful of the Tommy Robinsons and Elon Musks of this world? Well done decency, well done the police
.@StaffsPolice needs your help! They're seeking to identify those responsible for throwing a brick at and injuring PD Vixen and six police officers at the recent violent disorder. Further details can be found here: https://t.co/xLxjYe8nfA ๐๐ฌ๐ง๐ถ

@ThinBluePaw Get well soon PD Vixen ๐ I'm so sorry some brainless human hurt you. Thank you to you and your colleagues, human and animal, for keeping us safe X
We're deeply concerned regarding the continued use of police dogs in public order incidents without the appropriate personal protective equipment. Police dogs are highly trained to deal with these incidents, but it's irresponsible to be utilising them on the frontline, without stab vests or canine specific first aid kits in police vehicles. We have a duty to ensure the safety and wellbeing of these heroic dogs, and at present they are being let down. We're therefore urging the new Home Secretary @YvetteCooperMP & Policing and Crime Minister @DianaJohnsonMP to commit to reviewing personal protective equipment for police dogs across the United Kingdom. ๐ถ๐ฌ๐ง๐
It was a massive honour to hear 98 year old veteran (and ex HMS Collingwood trainee) Henry Rice's recollections of #DDay at @ChalkeFestival today. Sincerely, thank you, sir.
@HMS_Collingwood
The legend that is Professor Ronald Hutton at @ChalkeFestival. A very knowledgeable and extremely charming man - I think I'm a little star-struck! ๐คฉ
