Aangs show is literally titled “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and Aangs greatest strife and emotional beats come from his struggle of accepting the Avatars full responsibilities, (as a 12/13year old) while also being the LAST of his kind. He has to find ways to maintain and respect his Air Nomad heritage, while also attempting to solve a global crisis that could demand of him the very opposite of every teaching he had been taught and grown to learn. Korra was just more brash, arrogant, and willing to violence because of her initial lack of motivation. (Which she eventually got traumatized out of) At no point did we see her culture or heritage reflected in her actions or motivations, as she was simply bred to be a “combative” Avatar from a very young age. So I guess it depends on how you see the duties of the Avatar. Is it being a great warrior? Or is it having the capabilities of a great warrior, while maintaining a stance that can see solutions from the perspectives of all nations, to bring balance?
