Last weekend we planted fruit and nut trees of various varieties along the farm loop, to provide 24/7 publicly available kai to the community, free to pick for whoever wants it. Thanks to Ma Earth and all who fundraised.

Last week we hosted two Farm to Table dinners for Wellington on a Plate - a Field to Feast experience with delicious kai created by Tyler, with a real focus on local food. All veges and meat came from the farm, and most of the additional ingredients provided by local suppliers.

Recently we took a walk on the farm loop for our monthly team meeting. It was a chance to discuss the upcoming Fruit & Forage edible walking trail and check out some of the work done in the silvopasture and agroforestry paddocks.

Plant trees with us this Saturday 29 August as we turn the existing walking trail into a 24/7 edible fruit and forage track, with edible fruit, nut and medicinal species for free, publicly available, year-round kai supply.

Our beloved radish microgreens are now certified organic through Organic Farm NZ, grown to BioGro standards. A big milestone for the farm—and a big thank you to Cam and Tyler for seeding and nurturing the certification process.

Last night was one of the coldest nights of the winter, with ice in the cow troughs and the whole valley under a blanket of frost ❄️ the team was out early anyway, finishing the recently planted trees by protecting them with mats and guards to support their early growth stages.

These oaks specifically are fast-growing, high-performing species, selected for timber. They also have less impact on the land than traditional pine forestry, and will do a great job of carbon sequestration too.
