Today, we are announcing our biggest partnership to date: Zama will be the official confidentiality protocol for the @trex_network, a leading RWA protocol with over $100b of tokenized assets already committed by Apex Group.
I don't think people realize how massive RWAs are for blockchain. If you think stablecoins are huge, then RWAs are twice as big. This is THE big opportunity for blockchain to become the rails of global finance.
The issue however is that portfolio managers can't make their positions and strategies public. If they did, every trader on the planet would front-run them, making them lose billions as a consequence. Just ask any VC or whale how they feel being called out on social media when they move assets to an exchange. And now imagine someone managing 1000x more money. To put it simply: without privacy, finance won't move onchain.
The old way of solving this problem was to use private chains, at the cost of sacrificing public verifiability and composability. Private chains are like the Intranets of the 90s: closed, siloed systems that simply dont work well together.
Public blockchains on the other hand is like the Internet: a global network of publicly accessible applications and services interacting together seamlessly through common standards. And just like HTTPS made financial transactions possible on the Internet, Zama is making financial transactions possible on public blockchains.
The future of finance is onchain, and we will encrypt all of it with FHE.

These Germans are a strange people with hardcoded EU patriotism:
When using Monero they wonder how to pay taxes on it, when using Waze they have a mental problem tagging police officers on the road (which in Slovakia we as drivers see as a necessity).
At the Future conference I attended several panel discussions where cool new German/European startup projects were presented.
Practically all of them considered the biggest problem to be the local German / European regulations they have to face, communicating with the regulator for months, explaining to them what a given startup is all about, so that finally, after many months or years (!), they get the product approved and are able to make it in the EU.
In a situation where there are so many beautiful countries in the world where there are no European regulators and nonsensical European regulations, I confess that I am very surprised that German startups are determinedly fighting the windmills. And the absolutely most bizarre thing to me is that despite months of killing their lives with regulators, German startups find European regulations important and necessary!
And they add that although they have received very favourable offers from the US or China, where they could work on their startup without these restrictions, they, as good European patriots, have opted for the EU!
The best thing any ambitious European startup should do is to leave the bureaucratic EU hell.
Spending hundreds of thousands or millions on EU compliance strikes me as a manifestation of masochistic statism. Especially when the cost of regulations/compliance will of course be reflected in a significantly higher price of the product and its incompetence in the global market.
The world is indeed a big place and it usually makes no sense to satisfy EU regulators when you can move your project to a better country where nonsensical regulations don't exist.

the best way to learn new skills is through in person mentorship
so i understand why 32-yr old FAANG workers who have mentally and professionally stagnated like remote work
but ambitious people in their 20s want to work and learn in person in an office!
who would've guessed...
