HON'BLE CM N BIREN SINGH ATTENDS CLOSING CEREMONY OF DGAR MEN & WOMEN POLO CHAMPIONSHIP

The DGAR Men & Women Polo Championship 2025, which commenced on 20th January, 2025, concluded today with Hon’ble CM N Biren Singh gracing the closing ceremony as chief guest.

The closing ceremony was attended by CAF & PD Minister Shri L. Susindro Meitei, Social Welfare Minister Shri H. Dingo, MLAs Shri Soroikhaibam Rajen and Shri Khongbantabam Ibomcha, Director General of Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera and other senior officials of Assam Rifles among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon'ble CM stated that the State Government had taken up various schemes to protect and safeguard the Manipuri pony, reiterating that modern polo originated in the state of Manipur.

He continued that a grazing ground with a span of 30 acres had been allocated at Lamphelpat. Other grazing grounds had also been developed including the one at Pangei, he added.

Hon'ble CM informed that an Indigenous polo tournament namely Chief Minister’s Sagol Kangjei Championship had been started to preserve and promote Sagol Kangjei. He appreciated the Army and Assam Rifles for organizing various tournaments on polo, adding that it would play an important role in promoting polo and protecting and safeguarding Manipuri ponies. He further stressed the importance of organizing such tournaments every year.

Hon'ble CM maintained that the State Government had been putting all possible efforts to restore peace and to ensure that people live together peacefully as before. He also sought support and cooperation from people in safeguarding the pony.

Hon'ble CM also honoured veteran polo players for their contribution in the field of polo during the closing ceremony.

HON'BLE CM N BIREN SINGH INAUGURATES OPEN GYM, LAYS FOUNDATION FOR SWIMMING POOL INSIDE MANIPUR UNIVERSITY

Hon'ble CM N Biren Singh inaugurated the Art and Culture building and an Open Gym and laid foundation stones for a 33/11 KVA Sub Station and swimming pool inside the Manipur University, Canchipur today.

Addressing a formal function in this connection inside the Manipur University Auditorium as the Chief Guest today, Hon'ble CM stressed on the importance of a gym to keep a fit body in the modern world where physical movement has decreased.

Hon'ble CM said that all educational institutes including Universities, schools and colleges are temples and those coming out successfully from these institutes especially the university are the ones that contribute, guide and shape the society.
Acknowledging the importance of a university, Hon'ble CM said that the government has always tried not to neglect any issue or proposal concerning the university.
Hon'ble CM further assured to ensure that the construction of swimming pool is completed within a year.
Reminding that he was attending a function in the same auditorium in the presence of the Vice President of India on May 2023 when the unfortunate violence in the State broke out, Hon'ble CM prayed for peace to return in the State.

Hon'ble CM also expressed the need to conduct a proper discussion on the present situation with faculties, teachers, researchers and students in the university to understand the core issues of the conflict.
Now is the time for struggle filled with many adversities and challenges, but one should be aware of the goal, he added.
Hon'ble CM further talked of the responsibilities of educational institutes like universities to clear confusions of the people. Touching on issues surrounding border fencing and others, Hon'ble CM said seminars or legal camps to create awareness among the people could be conducted to clear confusions.
A book, 'Know Manipur' has been published, Hon'ble CM said highlighting the importance of educating the people of the roots and history of the land.
Our society will move forward when people start acting with a sense of belongingness to the land and a sense of ownership of the land, he continued.
We have the talent, but we need to act with the senses of belongingness and ownership, the Chief Minister stated.
Hon'ble CM also said that educational institutes should be disturbance-free.

HON'BLE CM N BIREN SINGH LAYS FOUNDATION STONE FOR MULTI-STORIED RESIDENTIAL QUARTERS.

The government has been putting all efforts since 2017 to bring developmental changes across the State in both the hills and the valley, Hon'ble CM N Biren Singh said today.

Hon'ble CM was speaking as the chief guest of the foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of multi-storied government quarters at Langol Housing Complex, Imphal West.

Hon'ble CM said that around two and half years were lost to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, despite the challenges, the government had made some big achievements, he added.
After the government return for the second term with the love of the people, it has lost around two years due to the present situation. But the government has not stopped, it has continued with developmental projects and at the same time work towards resolving the situation, Hon'ble CM stressed.
Hon'ble CM said that the multi-storied housing quarter will be G+7 building. He further explained the need for vertical expansion to minimize land use. He further highlighted similar construction at New Checkon area where 13 high rises are being constructed as government quarters.
Stating that similar high rises will be constructed, Hon'ble CM appealed to the people to care for nature, maintain neatness, cleanliness and ensure that drainage systems are not blocked.

He further explained the developmental project being taken up to rejuvenate Lamphalpat and said on its completion it can be used as recreational spot. He also spoke on the need for proper planning and vision while constructing structures.
While pointing out lost time due to various reasons and the fact that the State has a long rainy season, Hon'ble CM urged the PDA and the concerned contractors to work day and night for timely completion of the building.
It may be mentioned that the project is being taken up at the Project Cost of around Rs.65.60 crore with funding of HUDCO with State share. The twin block of (G+7 building) has Dwelling Units of 64 numbers of Type-III having 2 Bedrooms, 1 Kitchen, 1 Living cum Dining Room, 2 attached toilets, balconies and other amenities.

STATE LEVEL WORLD WETLANDS DAY OBSERVED

#WorldWetlandsDay 2025 was observed today at Leishang Hiden, Canchipur under the UN theme ‘Protecting Wetlands for our common future’. The state level observation, which was organised by the Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, was attended by Hon'ble CM N Biren Singh as Chief Guest, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Shri Th. Biswajit Singh and MLA of Langthabal AC Shri Karam Shyam as president and guest of honour respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon'ble CM stated that Leishang Hiden had been chosen as the site for observing the World Wetlands Day, considering its historical significance and to work out on measures to conserve it.

Continuing that he himself had much concern for the environment, Hon'ble CM recalled the dilapidated condition of Nambul River some years back. He stated that the cleaning process of the river was started when he was the Forest and Environment Minister in 2004. After becoming the Chief Minister of the State, the rejuvenation and conservation work of Nambul River continued and the household wastes along the Nambul river are brought through pipelines and are being treated at the Water treatment plant at Mongsangei, he said. He added that the treated water had been used for agricultural purposes.

He informed that the Leishang Hiden eastern part Phase-I project is being developed with a cost of around Rs. 12.81 crore. He further informed that the western side would also be developed with spaces for walking, cycling and open gym among others. He spoke on the beautification work of road median through planting trees and watering regularly.

Hon'ble CM also announced plans to consider constructing a market shed in Langthabal areas.

Speaking on the State Government’s initiatives to rejuvenate water bodies, Hon'ble CM mentioned that restoration of Yaral-pat had been done. Rejuvenation of Lamphelpat Waterbody project had been taken up with a project cost of around Rs. 650 crores. He raised concern on degradation of the environment and extinction of water sources due to large scale deforestation. Stressing the need to use groundwater as a source of water, Hon'ble CM informed that more than 500 ground drilling pumps had been set up under the Minor Irrigation Department.

He informed that beautification of various rivers including Imphal River and Kongba River would be taken up with a project cost of Rs. 86 crore (approx.). He also spoke on the positive changes which could be seen in Waithou Pat.

Concluding his speech he sought support of the public in the State Government’s initiatives to safeguard the indigenous people of the State and other development initiatives.

HON'BLE CM N BIREN SINGH INTERACTS WITH PEOPLE AT KUMBI

Hon'ble CM N Biren Singh today assured the construction of a Mini Sports Complex at the Kumbi High School Ground Terakhong at the cost of Rs. 2.5 crores.

Hon'ble CM was addressing an 'Interaction with the Public' event at the Kumbi high school ground today, said that the government is always there for the Internally Displaced Persons and that Go to Village events will be conducted at the earliest to look into all their requirements and needs.

Hon'ble CM also assured certain demands of the people including development of Kumbi Market Shed, repairing of Kumbi to Wangoo Road at the earliest, upgradation of Terakhong Primary Health Centre to Community Health Centre, setting up of a Fire Services sub-station at Kumbi.

Regarding provision of livelihood assistance to IDP families, Hon'ble CM said there is a scheme called the 'One Family One Livelihood' which provides upto Rs.10 lakh loans with a 30 percent grant.

HON'BLE CM N BIREN SINGH ATTENDS "POKNAPHAM" GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION

"The State is passing through a struggle to achieve certain goals or reach a destiny", Hon'ble CM N Biren Singh said today seeking cooperation and support of the people.

Speaking at the Golden Jubilee Celebration of POKNAPHAM at the J.N. Manipur Dance Academy this morning, Hon'ble CM said the goal is to leave a safe and sound Manipur for the present and future generations with their own identity and dignity. The State is in a struggle towards achieving this goal, he explained.
It is right to criticize or denounce the goals if they are wrong, otherwise people should support and cooperate with the government, Hon'ble CM asserted.
During a struggle we will face certain difficulties, but let us not turn back on our goal, Hon'ble CM said appealing for cooperation and support of the people.
Hon'ble CM further spoke on issues like regulation of Free Movement Regime, biometric recordings, demographic imbalance, border fencing etc.
Hon'ble CM continued that the positive changes that the government has brought in the State under his leadership were all reflections of his editorials from during his time as an editor. He had already reflected in his editorials that the Jiribam Road would be the alternative lifeline, Hon'ble CM highlighted.
Hon'ble CM also reflected on the impact of drug menace on the society and said that he had started his campaigning against drug since he was an editor. He continued that during his time as journalist he along with a few were quite embarrassed by all the negative reports in national and regional media concerning drugs and its impact on Manipur.
Hon'ble CM also recounted a few occasions from during his own days as a working journalist of the State and how the present All Manipur Working Journalists Union came into being.

HON'BLE CM N BIREN SINGH INAUGURATES IMA KEITHELS AT SEKMAI AND KANGLATONGBI

Hon'ble CM N Biren Singh inaugurated Ima Keithel at Sekmai and Kanglatongbi and laid the foundation stone for construction of Type-II and Type-III Quarters at Sekmai Police Station today at solemn function held at KSA Ground, Konjengleima, Awang Sekmai today.

The Ima Keithel at Sekmai was constructed at a cost of around Rs. 8 Crore, while that of Kanglatongbi was constructed at the cost of around Rs. 5 Crore. The project cost for the construction of Type-II and Type-III Quarters is Rs. 68.7 lakh (approx.) and aims to enhance family quarters for police personnel at Sekmai Police Station.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon'ble CM stated that the people of the State had faced hardship due to the current unprecedented crisis. As such, the State Government had been putting all possible efforts to restore peace and normalcy, alongside taking up development works and welfare programmes, he said.

Hon'ble CM spoke on various citizen-centric schemes initiated by the BJP-led government, since its formation in 2017. He mentioned the Go to Hills mission and Go to Village mission, which aimed to bring equal development across the State and take the governance to far flung villages of the State.

Mentioning the successful implementation of Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) which provides cashless treatment to poor households, he informed that around 2,15,000 beneficiaries had been covered with an expenditure of Rs. 289 crores (approx.) from the state exchequer. He further informed that under the Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) scheme, more than 3 lakhs people had been treated free of cost, expending an amount of Rs. 280 crores (approx.).

Hon'ble CM informed that the State Government had so far constructed 27 Ima Keithels across the State, as a part of Government initiatives of empowering women.

Stating that the foundation stones for the two Ima Keithel inaugurated today were laid on 7th January, 2021, he lauded the Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd for completing the construction work at a short span of time, without compromising the quality.

He said that a world class football ground with a gallery is under construction at Sekmai Kangjeibung with an estimated cost of around Rs. 7 crores, considering the need to attract youths in games and sports. He sought the support of the people to complete the construction soon.

He stated that the State Government had introduced an Economic Revival Mission to empower locals with skills for sustainable livelihoods. He continued that under the mission, many products are being produced substituting imports and contributing to the economy.

He appealed to women vendors to maintain cleanliness in and around the market.

The inauguration programme was attended by Ministers, MLAs and people of Sekmai AC among others.

Hon'ble CM N Biren Singh interacted with locals of Khangabok,Thoubal District, at a public interaction programme held today at Khangabok Maisnam Leikai, UYC Ground.

Hon'ble CM was accompanied by Power Minister Shri Th. Biswajit Singh, Health Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh, CAF & PD Minister Shri L. Susindro Meitei, MLAs Shri Sapam Kunjakewor, Shri Thongam Shanti, Shri Khongbantabam Ibomcha and Md. Abdul Nasir among others during the interaction programme.

Hon'ble CM and his colleagues, upon their arrival, were accorded a warm welcome by students and the locals of Khangabok.

While interacting with the people present at the venue, Hon'ble CM stated that many people of the State had begun to know the core issue of the current unprecedented crisis and had started rendering their support and cooperation in taking the State towards peace and normalcy.

He maintained that the State Government would always stand firmly to safeguard the unity and integrity of the State. He added that the Government had done nothing against any of the communities which had been living together since time immemorial, but would stand against those vested interest groups trying to disintegrate the State.

Hon'ble CM, after listening to the grievances and demands raised during the interaction, announced to take up certain development works at Khangabok. He announced to allocate Rs. 50 lakhs for installing water pumps at four paddy fields namely Louhonbi Loukon, Keipha Loukon, Kiyam Loukon and Tentharam Loukon. He further assured to develop an open gym.

Appreciating the public's concern for conserving water bodies, Hon'ble CM announced to include development projects at Ikop Pat and channel cleaning of Loukhong Pat with a cost Rs. 1.2 crore each in the work programme.

The interaction programme was also attended by representatives of local bodies, Self Help Groups, Village Volunteers, and the public of Khangabok among others.

MANIPUR CELEBRATES 76th REPUBLIC DAY
Manipur celebrated the Country’s 76th Republic Day joining the nation-wide celebration, with mass participation from across the State. The State Level Republic Day Celebrations, 2025 was held at historic Kangla with Governor of Manipur Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla unfurling the National flag and taking salute from different march-past contingents.
Hon'ble CM Biren Singh, Cabinet Ministers, Member of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly, Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, Director General of Police and Senior Civil and Police Officials also took part in the celebration.
The celebration began with the Governor inspecting the Guard of Honour accorded by a contingent commanded by Shri Jay Barange, IPS Probationer, Thoubal District.
Later, Governor Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla unfurled the Tricolour amidst playing of the National Anthem by 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles Band and then took salute from 54 march-past contingents including different band contingents, commanded by Smt. Laishram Sarita Devi, MPS, SP (Sports), Manipur. Apart from this, 10 different Cultural Troupes and Tableaux of 12 different Departments along with a special Drive Past from Manipur Fire Service Department also took part in marching contingents following the march-past.
Delivering the Vote of Thanks at the 1st Bn. Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Hon'ble CM N Biren Singh extended his best wishes to all the participants of the march past contingents including uniform contingents, cultural troupes, school and college contingents among others.

Hon'ble CM continued that Republic Day has been celebrated every year on 26th January since 1950, the day on which the Constitution of India came into effect, adding that today's celebration marks the 76th Republic Day of our country.
He further stated that India got independence in 15th August, 1947 and after that, the Drafting Committee of the Constituent Assembly took the responsibility to draft the Constitution of India. As such, the Constitution of India came into effect on 26th January, 1950 and the people of the country proudly celebrated the day as the Republic Day. He also extended his gratitude to the members of the Drafting Committee for giving the constitution to the people of India.

Hon'ble CM continued that citizens of India exercise their fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution and also perform their duties as enshrined in the constitution.
Hon'ble CM maintained that India had witnessed a drastic change in terms of development under the far-sighted vision and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Under his guidance, India is marching ahead to become the 4th largest economy in the world, he added. Speaking on the achievement of the country in the defence sector, he stated that India had started exporting defence equipment under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan envisaged by the Prime Minister.

He further mentioned that India had become the fourth nation to successfully achieve space docking. He also spoke on initiatives taken up to develop different sectors including social, health, education and to protect and preserve culture and traditions among others.

He appreciated the discipline and unity shown by uniform personnel participating in the march past and advised that once they wear their uniforms, they represent Manipur and India and not the community they belonged to.

Hon'ble CM, extending words of appreciation to different cultural troupes, expressed that participation of cultural troupes representing different communities in the Republic Day celebration had shown that the unity and integrity of Manipur is still intact.

The 76th Republic Day was also celebrated by the District Administrations at respective District Headquarters.
