In the case of the killing of two police personnel in Gurdaspur, serious questions have been raised by the family regarding the police encounter of a 19-year-old Sikh youth who was taken in for questioning. These concerns call for a thorough and impartial investigation. Our party demands that the Punjab and Haryana High Court take suo motu notice of this matter and order an inquiry.

It is even more alarming that after such alleged custodial killings, the Chief Minister and the AAP leadership are openly praising the police.

In Ludhiana, following a minor accident, a Sikh driver was deliberately targeted and brutally assaulted solely because his vehicle bore the photograph of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale. Thereafter, the inhuman torture inflicted by the police inside the police station reflects a calculated hatred and an arrogant “police state” mindset, which is unacceptable at any cost.

Such incidents are pushing Punjab back toward the dark memories of the 1990s, when the police and administration were given a free hand to oppress, torture, and brutalize Sikh youth. It is deeply unfortunate that even today, the ruling forces and the deep state are once again granting the Punjab Police the same unchecked authority.
