@legsidelizzy Am aware of it happening at a club in the late 80s/early 90s. Seemed orchestrated. Word spread and they were often called out about it.

The league found a spurious reason not to promote them. Something about too long a walk from the carpark to the pavilion.

@WG_RumblePants Was a at Plas Newydd on Anglesey yesterday and almost the first thing you encounter is the cricket field that has been developed as wildflower meadow. Surely the National Trust should conserve for cricket.

@StymieSi Years ago we used Beaconsfield to get to the Challenge Cup final. Sheffield Eagles beat Wigan. We were in the Sheffield end having been unable to get tickets from Wigan. There was a guy who was being watched and protected in equal measure. He’d had a tenner on Sheffield at 200/1!

@StymieSi Was in Ormskirk this morning and was phalanxed by a number of women dressed in Hull FC rugby shirts bemoaning the fact Ormskirk Market was not like a “car boot.” Off to the Everton Stadium for rugby and “Magic Weekend” apparently.
