@RahulGandhi Questions about their future were met with batons, tear gas and pellets. That’s not how a democracy answers its youth. They deserve answers, not violence.
In the name of questions, till when are we going to allow someone to cross all levels of disgust? Till what level will we stoop just to score some points?
What happened with @SauravDassss cannot be justified at any costs.
Update: Ankit was granted bail by the Sessions Court at around 9PM.
I have been informed that people who participated in the protest are now being targeted in Uttar Pradesh. This is completely unlawful and must stop immediately.
Peaceful protesters cannot be subjected to harassment or targeted merely for exercising their democratic rights.
Just received information from a volunteer regarding a disturbing incident allegedly involving Police Station Kasimpur, District Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh.
As per the information shared with us, Ankit Gautam, a resident of Village Mohaddipur, Badagaon, has reportedly been booked on the basis of a complaint by one Saksham Shukla. The police allegedly claim to have recovered an illegal firearm from Gautam’s clinic and have taken him into custody.
There are serious apprehension that this case has been deliberately fabricated to harass and intimidate Gautam, particularly because of his participation in raising his voice and standing with protestors at Jantar Mantar on July 20, Chalo Sansad march. It has also been alleged that the complainant is an influential local person with connections to individuals acting as intermediaries for the police.
No protestor or citizen should be targeted or silenced through the misuse of police powers. The Uttar Pradesh Police must ensure that no action is taken in violation of the Central Government’s directions concerning persons involved in the protests.
