Posting information and updates on the pickle that is the site of the former Manston airport. Wanting jobs, regeneration, new opportunites and new ideas.
@cmackinlay@RSPManston Sad indictment of you as Ramsgate’s representative and advocate. Do you see #Ramsgate as the necessary sacrifice or do you simply not care? This seems a very easy answer for many. Or are you chasing the votes you think this may win you?
And yet you support the opening of a new air CARGO hub at #manston in #Ramsgate. A filthy, noisy, highly polluting scheme that will damage the health and wellbeing of local residents with planes just 500ft above homes. How's the airline (MAMA) you have registered going ? #COP27
@dan_friend86@DoverDC@RSPManston Does one qualify for this committee through ignorance of facts, science & expertise? How’d you feel on role-reversal; if you were a councillor in Ramsgate, potentially suffering from the detrimental effects.
Sandwich will quickest under water due to climate change.🤫 @uk_karen
@dan_friend86@DoverDC@RSPManston Have you read the 12 independent reports, incl from @PINSgov, saying there's no need for this, the jobs predictions are grossly inflated, jobs will be lost in the visitor economy, it'll damage the climate & have 'significant adverse effects' on Ramsgate's 40,000+ people?
@dan_friend86@DoverDC@RSPManston What evidence is there of it being important or unique? Every independent expert report says it’s neither. Why do you believe, as a councillor, it is? What evidence have you seen? #nomanstonairport
It appears from your blog, you live in #margate? Forgive me if I am wrong. If you lived in #Ramsgate you'd be fighting against a new air CARGO at #manston. It appears the older generation of #Thanet are supporters ignoring the future re #climatechange. No jobs on a dead #planet!
Hi everyone, could you all send @BDBpitmans a tweet asking them to get their client @RSPManston to pay their legal bill to Jenny Dawes for the last JR. We need to embarrass these people into paying up. We the taxpayer gave them £8.5m thanks to @SirRogerGale so they have the money
@Coyle2L And that’s your response? Not really cobbled together was it as it had to report specifically in the situation post Brexit and Covid. Neither of which featured in previous reports. And what is your comment on all those other expert reports?
Despite the huge impact of Covid on our visitor economy,we still did better than the national picture. People want to visit #Thanet. They don’t want or need a 24/7 airport that will wreck our tourism & local jobs. https://t.co/R0ohoJyBRB #nocargohubairport#manston
@Coyle2L Show me one by an independent aviation expert that wasn’t. Why did the Planning Inspectorate’s own Examining Authority recommend refusing the DCO? Why did the SoS for Transport’s own Independent Assessor recommend it be refused?
@Coyle2L We must be talking to different people. There’s no land of milk & honey.Britain is in a shocking state. We need to improve it drastically. Improve provision of services.Try talking up our town, our villages, our coast, our prospects. An airport isn’t the answer to any of our problems
@Coyle2L There’s huge potential ( and in reality) for green jobs both locally and nationally. Plus in our visitor economy, in our health service which is crying out for staff, in a growing digital economy. We need to support excellent education for all locally.
@Coyle2L You’ve been sold a pup with the ‘good qualifications’ story that RSP are promoting. Which jobs specifically do you think are going to promote these qualifications? How many will require good qualifications? How would you ensure local people got these jobs? ( you couldn’t)
@Coyle2L Affordable housing is definitely an issue. How will the airport help this? Most airport jobs are low-paid, even any that actually emerge. Makes it all the harder for people to afford mortgages or rent.
