@avidseries @TheLaurenChen What program are you specifically referring to that these “high skill legal immigrants” are using to come here? As far as I know, opt and h1b are the main pathways. I would like more specific numbers for this supposed “majority”. L-1 and O-1 aren’t as large as those two programs.

@avidseries OPT’s (who eventually get converted to h1b) have no more qualifications than Americans, considering that they are recent grads. They are not hired bc they are better, but bc they are loyal, will work for less, and the company saves on ss/medicare taxes for three years in stem.

@xwanyex My sister got a teaching job, worked at it for three months, got a nine month maternity leave, then ditched a week before the next semester started. She feels zero shame over it. I am sure that others would gladly abuse a more government centric version of it.
