Heroes are home. 🇺🇸 Florida Task Force 1 and 2 have returned from Venezuela, and Miami-Dade could not be prouder.
Thank you to our brave first responders @MiamiDadeFire & @CityofMiamiFire , and to the @StateDept for making this mission possible. Your courage and dedication remind us of the very best of who we are. 🇺🇸🇻🇪
For nearly thirty years, these families have carried the unbearable weight of loss while waiting for accountability. Today, the indictment of Raúl Castro marks a historic step toward justice for Carlos Costa, Armando Alejandre Jr., Mario de la Peña, and Pablo Morales, the four Brothers to the Rescue humanitarians killed on February 24, 1996.
Being in the room with the families who have carried this grief for decades, witnessing their strength, their tears, and their hope, was a moment I will never forget.
To Miami-Dade’s Cuban exile community, your resilience, sacrifice, and enduring call for a free Cuba have shaped this community and inspired generations. We stand with you, always. 🇨🇺
For many in Miami-Dade, Venezuela is still home. Flights return, bringing families closer, but not everyone can return. This moment is not enough. The goal remains a free, democratic Venezuela 🇻🇪

I joined @MayorDaniella Levine Cava at MIA today to greet two of the last Jewish Israeli hostages released by Hamas last month leading to the cease-fire, Guy Gilboa-Dalal and Evyatar David. These brave young men were kidnapped by Hamas at the Nova music festival — where 378 festival participants were murdered — and held hostage for two years. Today, we celebrate their courage and freedom.
Two years after the horrific October 7 attacks on Israel, we remember the lives lost, the families still grieving, and those still held hostage. We stand together in remembrance and in strength, with all the families mourning and with Jewish communities around the world.
Tonight’s ruling is a victory for home rule and human dignity—and represents justice for those who faced unimaginable hardship. Grateful to all the advocates and residents who never stopped raising their voices and whose persistence made this outcome possible.
Heartbroken by the tragic death of Colombian presidential candidate and Senator @MiguelUribeT. His dedication to public service and his country’s future will be remembered. My deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and all Colombians mourning this loss.
