It's shameful what is happening in South Africa. It persists with impunity for two reasons:

1. The African Union is moribund.
2. The SA government supports the anti-migrant stance of South Africans. In other words, the government's inaction is not due to helplessness but a deliberate policy of inaction.
This is because no other explanation makes sense for why this unprogressive behavior continues.

Everything @Julius_S_Malema said is meaningless populist lip service. How is Ghana's action unnecessary? Ghana responded to the kind of society SA is building, which includes @Julius_S_Malema, a leader. Is this to be a one-time or isolated incident? Perhaps diplomacy could be given a chance. But no, this savagery has persisted for decades. Decades.

While evacuating Ghanaians from SA is not sustainable, and the government needs to go beyond the PR to focus on creating opportunities for Ghanaians, the decision to evacuate signals to Africa that we are failing at the basic, existential task of uniting ourselves for the common good.
