I can't keep these tears from falling from my eyes as I look out this airplane window. I'm trying not to let people around me see me cry, but I was a high school dropout, and I just passed my dissertation defense and earned my Ph.D! I am now, officially, Dr. Manuel Scott.
The question isn't whether you have something to say.
The question is whether you're willing to do the work required to say it well.

Your perspective didn’t come from nowhere.
It was formed.
Shaped.
Conditioned.
And until you recognize that…
You’ll struggle to understand anyone who doesn’t share it.
Awareness is the beginning of wisdom...
And interacting well with cultural others.
Over the years, many of you have followed our journey through speaking, education, faith, family, and life. What many people don’t know is that, behind the scenes, we’ve also been building memories together all over the world as a family.
Scott Family Travels isn’t about being influencers. It’s about family, growth, culture, laughter, adventure, and making memories together while we still can.
If you’d like to journey with us beyond the stages and speeches, we’d love to have you join us over on YouTube.

Thank you all for loving and supporting our family through the years.
More life. More memories. More chapters ahead.
There is good, bad, and different...
And If you always see differences as deficiencies...
you'll never work well with anyone who is not like you.
Not enough people give enough space for "different."
How do you determine whether something is good, bad, or different?

I've learned this the hard way: people will allow you to hurt yourself and even work yourself to death, as long you continue to benefit them.
Set some boundaries for people who have none.
The best keynote speakers aren’t chasing applause…
they’re carrying something.
A burden.
A conviction.
If it keeps you up at night…
That’s not a problem…
That’s your message.
Own it.
Because it might be the very thing you were born to say.

My oldest son has graduated from high school!
Honors graduate.
Team Captain.
30+ college acceptances.
Future Mechanical Engineer at North Carolina A&T.
But more than his accomplishments, I’m proud of the man he's become.
If you knew my story, you'd be celebrating with me:
I went from being a high school dropout to a PhD...
Through hard work and with the help of loving educators.
To all the educators in the world today, please remember:
Even on your worst day, you can be your student's best hope;
AND, AND, AND...
Your work can ripple for generations to come!
You can’t relationship your way to student success.
But it'll be much harder (impossible?) to reach a student in poverty
without relationships.
Relationships alone aren’t enough.
But without trust…
without connection…
without someone who feels safe, seen, and loved…
nothing else matters.
Strategy matters.
Instruction matters.
Standards matter.
But if students don’t believe you care…
they won’t hear a word you say.
Reach them first.
Then teach them.

The moment I heard my son's heartbeat for the first time... I was terrified, man.
Not because I wasn't ready.
Because I had never seen what a good father looked like.
How do you be something you've never seen?
It was my father-in-law — Dad Johnson — who changed everything. He didn't lecture me about fatherhood. He just lived it. And what I learned from watching him was this:
Set a high standard in your home. Call your children up to it. Empower them to reach it. They will rise.
You don't have to repeat what was done to you. The cycle breaks with you. 💛
Save this. Share it with a dad who needs it.

Not all “unity” is real unity.
Sometimes it’s just avoidance.
If you are defensive about cultural others,
OR try to minimize your differences with them...
you create distance, not connection.
There are levels to working well with cultural others.
How to you think about others who are different from you?
Speakers, you don’t need more motivation.
You need a system.
Most speakers are stuck because they’re guessing.
Guessing their message.
Guessing how to get booked.
Guessing how to turn speaking into income.
That’s why most never break through.
I built something to change that.

Dad Johnson didn't drink. Didn't smoke. Didn't chase women.
So when the doctor asked how he stayed in such great shape at his age — he told him exactly that.
The doctor paused. Looked at him. And said:
"I believe you on the first two. But not the third."
He was sharp, funny, and full of life — right up until the end.
That's what faithfulness does to a man.
It keeps him young.
We miss you, Dad.
Thank you for your legacy. 🙏🏾
