Our goal at the start of the year is to help every student learn how to use library resources to find a "right fit" independent reading book. This year, students practiced at the Back to School Book Shopping event in Maple's library!

At Career Day, 8th graders each participated in a practice interview with a community professional and then attended several presentations to learn more about various industries.

Students used books as inspiration to write their own poetry during the LMC's workshop: Poetry Uncovered. Moving through choice stations, students created book spine, blackout, emoji, word scramble, and pastel poems.

The LMC was proud to support 7th grade social studies throughout their WWII research unit! From selecting topics to creating unique projects, students gained research skills while expanding their view of history.

We celebrated our love of books during Valentine's week in the LMC by hosting all ELA classes at I HEART Books Bingo! Students populated their own Bingo boards with new independent reading book titles and then learned about the titles as they were called.

The Maple LMC team visited several elementary schools to deliver the book bundles that students made during our December event, The Art of Giving.

Seventh grade navigate students practiced craft writing moves in a lesson inspired by Chopped, Jr. this week! Using mystery craft move ingredients, teams formulated persuasive writing dishes during a friendly writing competition.

Maple school welcomed visiting author, Joelle Charbonneau. Students enjoyed an engaging presentation before small groups participated in creative writing workshops where they practiced several writing techniques.

With the help of many incredible authors, Maple students supported elementary classrooms by creating SEL-themed book-bundles...products of our annual event, The Art of Giving.
