Maple Class were secret code busters in computing this afternoon as they learnt all about morse code and used torches to send their own messages 🕵️♀️🕵️♂️ #PinehurstComputing

In computing, we were having fun with flags! Year 5 learnt all about semaphore and how flags can be used to send codes. The practised sending their own codes and cracking others. #PinehurstComputing
To start our Properties and Changes in Materials science unit, the children made “Dancing Raisins” and observed how the carbon dioxide bubbles made the raisins float and then popped, making them sink. #PinehurstScience
Maths is off to a strong start in Year 5 as we’ve been learning about numbers up to 1,000,000! The class have been working on their understanding of place value and journaling their learning. #PinehurstMaths

For the past two days, we have been looking at our new book called Oranges in No Man’s Land. The book is set during the civil war in Lebanon. Today we looked at pictures of Beirut before and during the war.
