I have a theory that this was done partly out of spite to keep her from reaching her fullest potential in the industry. Both Kubo and Sayo were on a roll and thriving with buzz for their future careers outside of YOI. 7 years of being prevented from living up to that potential.

Hello, I'm posting this to share an account about Yuri on Ice: Ice Adolescence I heard from someone claiming to have formerly been in a position to know. It's not 100 percent verified as they need to protect their identity, but the timeline matches a lot of what we know.

There’s factual evidence out there that Johnny Weir was working on the movie in 2018 and there was an interview where he mentioned the movie should be out “early 2019” aka a timeline. It was in the process of being scored too. Committee and staff stalemate = content issues.

Even if the source is lying, either way the project was canned because of MAPPA’s neglect
we have every right to be mad, not just for fans, but for the production crew first and foremost
