Our last presentation of MTM7 is by Patrick Johnson and Bobbie Foster, discussing the magazine Fangoria. Their presentation is called 'they grow up and start dying: The construction of cultural authority and journalism boundaries through detachment/attachment in Fangoria.'#MTM7
Sheila Webb has just presented her paper to panel 5. It is called 'Bon appetite: a legacy food magazine as a site of social reckoning.' She explores the two themes of authenticity and appropriation, making reference to the language choices decided by the magazine.

Our final presentation of panel 4 is being presented by
@CarlaRodCardoso and Alexandra Barradas who are presenting their paper called 'using magazines as multilevel pedagogical tools'. #MTM7
Our second presentation explored poetry and periodicals. Rita Gracio Lusofona's paper, peripheral poetry periodicals, provided many interesting insights. One was on poet-editors not just creating opportunities for themselves but for others to publish their work. #MTM7
Panel 4, Magazines and content, has started. To kick start today's presentations, we have Zeynep Kuruk-Ercetin presenting, 'A moment of transformation: tracing the 'modern Turkish family in Aile magazine through its translated content.' #MTM7

The launch of 'Mag Lab'. Our founder @TimothyHolmes described it as "the first research lab dedicated to magazine research studies." It will be connected to future MTM conferences.

Today's final presenter is Simphiwe Mpho Zondani, who is a master's student from South Africa. His paper, 'Beyond narratives of precarity and closure: Mapping new lines of flight for the South African magazine,' explores the impact of COVID-19 on South African magazines.

Rebecca Johinke presents her paper on 'Consumption and the convergence of reading and shopping: Net-a-Porter’s Porter magazine as an augmented delivery technology.'
She explores how they 'redefined the catalogue.'

After an hour's break #MTM7 is back with panel 3. These presentations will be on emerging trends. The moderator for this panel is @klerner.
To kick things off we have Aileen Gallagher and Sharon Bloyd-Peshkin, presenting if branded content is embracing solutions journalism?
Our first speaker on our second panel is @MaryEHogarth. Her presentation was on how Country Walking Magazine is thriving post-pandemic, having built a 'community' of nearly 40,000 print and digital subscribers.

Our 2nd panel has commenced. The theme of this panel is 'Magazines and Readers'.
@CarlaRodCardoso described the importance of this theme, explaining: "Magazines focus on building communities, but to survive, it needs readers."
Our final presenters, Sonia Lamy and Carla Rodrigues Cardoso, did their presentation on 'following JMK's case on paper and digital Portuguese news magazines.'
